Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
The above and/or a buckled/bent wheel (inside barrel) are most probably the cause for uneven (around the circumference of the tyre, not speaking from outside to inside) tyre wear.
Leading evidence: 'cause' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'cause' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace any issues' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

3) High speed 70~80ish, with lane changes, any issues?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a question ...
My 996 felt like it had a little fadump coming from the rear right in the mornings when i'm driving to work and going 15 through the school zone right outside my house..
I took a peek under the car and saw my rear tire had some bad uneven wear and even some belts showing. I figured that was the issue, no big deal. I put 4 new tires on and had it balanced/aligned.
i still feel a little wobble coming from the back though. is this normal? is this a flat spot as the tire warms up (is that a thing)?
Or, is there some bearings or something back there that might need some love?
Thanks in advance!
Hey, a little hard to tell, can you drive it around a little bit more and report back? I would suggest the following:
1) Smooth road, ~40-50mph, any issues?
2) Twisty road 50~60mph, any issues?
3) High speed 70~80ish, with lane changes, any issues?
Bent Wheel? Wheel bearings (If they're real bad you'll hear a grinding noise/whine)? Any number of rubber bushings? Last but not least - Motor Mounts, especially in turns. If they're bad you'll get the "sloshing water in a bucket" feel in the rear end. Good luck
If uneven wear means the inside (inboard) is showing more wear: this is expected given the weight on the back end and the negative camber that helps adjust for it. This isn't necessarily related to the "fadump".
A clunk means that two metal parts are coming together; this isn't supposed to happen. If you're hearing a sound - and I'm not sure from your description - you might have worn bushings, a part out of alignment, or something is loose and moving when it shouldn't be. I would defer to your indie or alignment shop rather than performing high-speed data-collection runs if there are metal-on-metal noises.
thanks y'all
there's no sound.. just a slight fadump that mostly noticeable at slow speeds (under 20).
at speed, i can't feel it. and i dont hear noises of any kind either.
