My car ran absolutely perfectly all weekend - it blows my mind that these things can take that kind of abuse on a track and then start up and drive home like nothing happened.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just participated in my first HPDE event this past weekend with the OVR PCA at Mid Ohio and it was an absolute blast. I had a lot of reservations about attending a DE, from the general intimidation factor of driving on a track with other cars to every 996 owners nightmares about blowing an engine. I'm thrilled that I went ahead and took the plunge because it was far more enjoyable than I could have imagined. My car ran absolutely perfectly all weekend - it blows my mind that these things can take that kind of abuse on a track and then start up and drive home like nothing happened. The event organizers were great, everything ran smoothly, classroom instructors were great, my personal instructor was awesome and also commented a few times about how strong my car was running and how good it felt. It didn't take long before I was getting point-bys from much faster / more powerful cars (996 and 997 turbos, cayman gts, m5, m2, newer c2s, etc) If anyone has been on the fence about trying one I can wholeheartedly say you absolutely should. I learned so much in 2 days, have a completely new appreciation for my car, and generally just had a great time. Here are a few pics:

POST 2Original post

Awesome! Glad you had a successful first trip. Mid-Ohio is one of my favorite tracks and works really nicely in these cars. Don't need a ton of power there, just need to be really smooth and efficient!
