Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
The DME can adjust timing for just one cylinder if the knock sensor is detecting detonation.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust timing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust timing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You know it looks kind of like the machine wasjust going down the line testing connections instead of evaluating the engine much.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Could anyone help? I got this piwis print out for my 996c4s 2003 and it has some values i can find no reference to. i have looked in poses but it says nothing about KRAL1N or KRAN1. what is it and why i only have this -2.25 cr on cyl2
Not 100% sure but it looks like there's some timing retardation for that cylinder.
Cylinders can vary some in their detonation characsteristics in that various factors combine to make the cylinder more or less detonation resistent. Thankfully, the DME can treat each cylinder individually. The DME can adjust timing for just one cylinder if the knock sensor is detecting detonation. For my 03 Turbo the adjustment step is in increments of 0.75 deg. and the limit is 15 degs.
Don't take this as gospel but there may not be anything wrong other than you have looked at the engine at a level most owners do not and have found there can be some variation.
What prompted you to pull those readings?
Are there any symptoms with this readout? Any engine misbehavior?
Have you made any changes to the engine? Done any work on it recently?
Sincerely,
Macster.
Make sure the engine has been warmed up running it up and down the street or fresh off the hwy instead of a cold start and taking any readings as real.
thank you for replies, I took readings to make sure nothing is wrong but clearly cannot establish what these readouts mean. i have no problems with engine (yet).
thanks for suggestions on how to take readings but it is somewhat pointless when even after asking on tech forum I dont know what 90% of these readings mean and i cannot find any descriptions anywhere
How did you come by a PIWIS sans any documentation?
One thing you can try is show up at your local Porsche dealer service department with a box of donuts (or a box of assorted bagels and spreads) and the printout and ask the service manager if you can ask one of the senior techs what the readings mean.
I find as long as I don't make a nuisance of myself and respect the fact the techs have work to do and can't always stop to talk/answer questions they're pretty helpful.
Sincerely,
Macster.

The knock ctrl integr...........end test 0.27 and Z5.......-2.25 look like where it ends and shifts to another connection state. The blue highlighted line you are questioning is possibly just because that cylinder was in a firing state when scanned.
It's a new world yah know. Just look up the manufacturers tech support number and pick up the cell phone with all the free minutes and make yourself happy.
