Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Purchased my 996 about 6 months ago and still going through it to figure out what's been done as there is very little history on it (other than IMS, RMS, AOS in the past 2 years). I noticed that there was a spacer on the sump pan but I didn't think about it until recently. Can anyone tell from the picture what kit was installed? I'm thinking it's the brey-krause deep sump kit but I really have no idea? Anyway to tell other than pulling it? Not quite ready for an oil change. Thanks

POST 2Original post

I don't know if there is a way to tell but from my research it works the same as well as other 0.5 Qt spacer. HOWEVER!!! the early version of the BK kit did not come with spacer for the pick up tube and that's bad news. Personally I would pull it and check if there is a spacer for the pick up tube and get a spacer if it is not there. Based on the picture, they applied the sealant very liberally there, take the chance to clean it up and make sure no sealant on the pick up tube screen as well. you want to have just enough sealant and not get squeezed out into the pan.

POST 3Original post

Could be either Brey Krause or LN. Either way looks like who ever installed it used way too much sealant.
