Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The small plastic ground effect just forward of the rear wheel seems that it will interfere with my Jack if I use the Jack point.

Pelican's instructions use a ridiculous $750 floor Jack.

If using the twist/hang/secure function don't forget to remove from car before drive off!!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I've read and read but maybe I'm daft. I can't figure out how to Jack up the rear of the car in my 2000 996 cab. The small plastic ground effect just forward of the rear wheel seems that it will interfere with my Jack if I use the Jack point. As silly as it is this is keeping me from doing a lot of DIY. Can anyone help me figure this out? Pelican's instructions use a ridiculous $750 floor Jack. My harbor freight Jack is pretty low profile but when centered on the Jack point if I start going up that plastic panel interferes. Maybe a hockey puck would give the little extra I need but I'm not sure.
I appreciate any insight!
Thanks!
The back of the car would be lifted by the suspension. You don't need a long reach Jack neccesarily. I drive up onto some 2x12 boards and get enough clearance for my Jack in the location shown on Pelican parts instruction
I had the same issue on my C4S...side sill cover interference. Talked to JackPoint, they suggested hockey pucks with their long pins. Drill center of puck, insert pins, additional clearance make it good to go.
These are pretty cool, too. On RL Market Place under accessories. $55. If using the twist/hang/secure function don't forget to remove from car before drive off!!
Agreed. Use a hockey puck or jack pucks. If you want to lift the rear on both sides, drive up on some 2 x 4's (or other lumber) and roll the jack in from the rear of the car. Place it under the cross member (not the engine) and center it. Raise it up, place the jack stands on both sides, and lower the car onto the stands. Just make sure to put the lumber back before you lower the car again or you'll have trouble removing the jack. I learned that the hard way.
I use the harbor freight 3 ton lo profile jack. Place it on the lower suspension arm forward of the oil sump. I got some 3 ton HF jack stands and a 4 pack of pucks. I haven’t tried the floor jack on the side jack points but I know exactly what you’re talking about with the plastic. My jack stands are the u-shaped type, not the flat kind.
I still think the hockey pucks (or the specialty kind as pictured above) will give you enough clearance.
