Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

oh and hello,i have been lurking in the back ground for a while, aswell as trying to buy a house and go through a divorce!! never a quiet moment. so my first question is: only half my clam shell raises with the button,it seams to have snapped a cable on the drivers side, are these replaceable and if so,where?? thanks.

POST 2Original post

Welcome to Rennlist. I'd love to help, but I don't understand your problem. Perhaps a picture would help? The clamshell is operated by a single motor that operates the latches that hold down the clamshell when closed AND operates the the motion of the clamshell via two cables and sliders. The cables, sliders, and gear mechanism that move the clamshell are all one assembly if you buy it new. Just for clarity, the "clamshell" is the movable rear cover that hides the majority of the convertible top when the top is down. Give some more details, and we may be able to point you in the right direction.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

cheers for the welcome Frisbee, and yes its the drivers side cable that pulls the clam that has snapped,so only one side moving,

POST 4Original post

The part you need is an assembly, shown as part #4 below. The part number for the drive assembly is 996.561.012.03, and lists for $778, retails for $563 from Sunset, but I found it used for $325. (those prices are from 2012) You can read the long story about my repair here . I still have my broken assembly. The bowden cable on the passenger side is still good. I'm not sure if the passenger and drivers side cable are the same length. You'd have to check. There is probably some flexibility in length, if needed, since the cable bends 90 anyway. If you are savvy enough to take the assembly apart (not simple), I'd be willing to part with the cable for cheap.

POST 6Original post

I hate projects like this. As you go deeper and deeper the more challenges you find. Must say I'm very impressed with your tenacity..

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well i managed to get the whole lot for 200,job done, now time to sell my baby....got a new house that needs a bit of work, gutted to see it go but needs must.

POST 8Original post

What was the root of the problem? How did you fix it?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the bike type cable as pictured above had snapped on the drivers side,so i had to go to a breakers yard and buy a new one, they wouldnt sell me just the one cable i needed,i had to buy it all,200 all in,which was much nicer on the pocket than the main dealers price of 525... so all is good..

POST 10Original post
