Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Before I get into the headlights, I installed this grill mesh grill mesh to address the massive consumption of leaves, bugs and rock by the radiator scoops last year. One roll does a Tip car with virtually zero leftover. I had my body shop paint the unpainted areas of the bumper black. I left the junk the mesh catches in for the sake of the picture. Im really happy with the price and durability of the material. My post drive clean up now includes a quick vacuum of the mesh. My goal was to install these headlights so that OEM or these lights connect at any time. The radiator mesh played a factor in my decision to do the duct version of the headlights. I thought air duct mesh and radiator mesh would be complimentary and also the black trim of the headlights would work with the other black trim the car has. My Indy has had issues with fitment of non-OEM headlights and warned me ahead of time. These headlights fit extremely well. They fit as precisely as the old headlights. My car has all of the OEM options for headlights. Lithtronics, with the auto level along with the washers. Disconnecting the autoleveling connection was the most difficult task in this installation. First, I can never remember which way the release tab goes. Push down to get out is my new mnemonic to burn this into my brain. Second, fine grit has a way of supplying near super glue adhesive strength. I sprayed a copious amount of CRC electronic cleaner to achieve disconnection. Since the auto leveler wires are still live, I wrapped the connector in plastic film, then wrapped that with electrical tape, then secured that to the car. What Id really like to find is a water tight blank female connector instead of this hack. Plastic wrap Electrical taped and secured to wash fluid line. Disconnecting the washer was routine, I only had a couple of bolts handy to plug the tubing. Im going to the Porsche parts section of my local farm store tomorrow to find a better plug. The installation instructions call out a LED flasher relay so I ordered one in advance of the arrival of the headlights. Its only $7. I need to install it. Overall, I found the install instructions concise and complete. After getting the headlights installed then meant several adjustments to get them aligned. While it's very easy to pop the headlights in and out, my suggestion is to make zero effort to fit the headlight gaskets until you're happy with the alignment. I wasted some time going for gasket alignment before headlight aim was settled. I will get the car out at night sometime over the weekend. Deer are down from the mountains, and I avoid driving anything at night this time of year. My wife hit a deer in my truck the one time she drove it and it was a serious hassle to get repaired. Launching new products is something I did in my working days. It is not easy and takes time. I'm especially impressed with how well they fit.
