Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I removed the silver decals (see before pic), that came on the car, and replaced the ashtray with the non-smokers package.

It is a phenomenal car to drive, light, precise, sounds great and is a blast to run (and making my 16 M4 sad).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Longtime BMW M driver (3 generations of M3s, plus 2 generations of MZs), sold my 1990 325i to fund the purchase of a 2004 Carrera. It is a phenomenal car to drive, light, precise, sounds great and is a blast to run (and making my 16 M4 sad).
LOVE the color....and those wheels!
I took the plunge several month ago as well, I have learned so much from this forum (and saved a lot of $ as well) - good luck!
To make a short story longer I started searching for a 996 about 3 months ago. I found a Silver 4CS in Tallahassee and even paid for a PPI (needed brakes, front tires and had some oil seeping, 69k miles). Price was 25k, shop suggested I offer 23k given brakes and tires, but seller rejected, and even rejected 24k. Even back at 25k he declined to sell. So $200 out the window. Drove an 02 vert listed for 21k. Carfax showed salvage title (flood). Car was immaculate, and only had 41k miles. It was silver over grey (ugh), and shifting into second was fussy so I passed. Drove another 4CS, Silver over Red (and I mean red, steering wheel, speaker grills.....), that just had 8k of work including ims. Super clean, drove great, and I offered 28k, Seller wanted 34k and wouldn't budge. Once I saw a yellow one for sale in Wisconsin, I was hooked, and went through a bunch of texts and even a phone call, asking the seller to arrange a ppi with a local shop. They agreed to arrange, and even sent follow-up texts saying it was in the workd. I was prepared to fly up and drive home. Then they ghosted me (It was a 2000, low miles, ims done, aerokit, 25k, needed tires).
The one I bought was listed on Facebook Marketplace locally. Listed for 34k, we agreed on 30k subject to ppi. Carfax was clean, 4 owners, former cpo car, 50k miles, new Michelin Pilot Sports, drove great, ppi was mostly fine (minor issues). Had the oil and brake fluid done after ppi and drove home. Its been great. I removed the silver decals (see before pic), that came on the car, and replaced the ashtray with the non-smokers package. Plan on a few cosmetic mods as well.
"
What makes it an "RS" or is that just the previous owner's creative license and "badge engineering" (like a //M badge on a 325is)?"
