I just picked up a 2001 911 coupe on Saturday and I have a couple questions. Where can I find a reasonably priced PCM map for the midwest (Wisconsin/Illinois). Also, what are the recommended indoor car covers that are custom fit and nice? Thanks in advance. Jim

Try ebay for the map CD. The problem you have is that your PCM is version 1.0 - which is horribly out of date from both a map perspective and a technology perspective. Your best bet is to replace it with an aftermarket nav system.

Thanks for the help, wow, pretty disappointing that Porsche would have missed the mark so badly on the GPS system just 10 years ago. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir though.

One good thing about the PCM 1.... when you go out driving looking to get lost, the PCM will get you home. Thats the only thing I use it for. I also use the cassette player....

We have PCM 2.0 in our Cayenne, and even that's not so good. They introduced new maps in 2008, which helped tremendously, but it's still behind the times. While I'm generally not a fan of aftermarket stereo systems in Porsches, I'm really considering a Kenwood double DIN nav system for my 996. I haven't fully decided yet.
