Suggestion

(I was concerned about leaks due to not using enough goop, or using too much with excess oozing in, breaking loose and becoming oil contamination.)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I wish I could say this was a learning experience... but im the king of making a 20 min job take all evening. At least I had enough Drei bond to do it again

No, thank God. I figured Id wait 24hrs for everything to dry. On the bright side, there wasnt too much that oozed out on the inside of the sump

if yes what type of oil ?

POST 9Original post

No doubt I'm an outlier here - but I decided to avoid the "liquid gasket" step. (I was concerned about leaks due to not using enough goop, or using too much with excess oozing in, breaking loose and becoming oil contamination.) Instead, I made a gasket out of silicone rubber sheet (thickness approximately 1mm). I used the oil pan cover as a template, and cut the holes with a hole punch. This was easier than I'd expected, and it fit perfectly. This is apparently not an approved procedure, though I haven't yet been able to tell why (feedback welcome). So far it has held for well over a year without leaking a drop.
