front bumper and fenders don't get changed without hood and damage to horns most likely.

Do you have any information on who performed the repair work?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I'm trying to make a decision between a couple of cars and wanted to get an opinion from you guys.
2005 996 turbo cabrio with a rebuilt title and 20,000 miles.
The damage was originally front bumper and fenders, and I've seen the pictures. $34k
Vs
2001 996 turbo coupe, clean title, 60,000 miles. Looks as good as a 2001 can look. $45k
I know I'm not providing a lot of info, but which way would you guys lean on this?
Personally I'm strongly leaning toward the 05 with the rebuilt title.
What is your opinion?
Personally, the rebuilt title scares me a little bit. I know the price is good, but I'd worry about the quality of the rebuild and the potential for future problems. How long has it been since the car was repaired? How many miles have been logged? Do you have any information on who performed the repair work? Personally, I don't care that much about resale. The resale value will obviously be low with a rebuilt title, but you're paying a low price to acquire it, so it doesn't really matter.
To sum it up, I would consider the car with the rebuilt title if all of my questions could be answered in a satisfactory manner. If you don't know the answers to the questions above, then I'd recommend that you keep looking.
There's my two cents worth!
stick with non salvage title. you will not be able to sell when time, and are you sure you know everything about the salvage? front bumper and fenders don't get changed without hood and damage to horns most likely.
selling a salvage title car is a nightmare. if you have ever experienced the nightmare of selling a regular title 996 imagine selling a salvage title. if you buy it keep it.
I dont mind salvage titles on 996s as much anymore since I've seen so many with pretty minor damage totalled by the insurance company.
However, given the two cars, I would go for the coupe 996. You will definitely not have trouble selling it for what you paid, and the car actually has a high probability of going up in value as it gets older.
I am an enthusiast who started speculating on cars' values about 10 years ago. The 996 Turbo coupe is one I have on my list to buy. The prices are already on the rise for at least 2 years now.
Nothing beats driving a car for free, and making money on it when you sell!
I would possibly consider a salvage title on a cheaper car, but once you get into the mid-30s it seems like it might not be a good idea. Either way, I think the 996TTs are eventually going to be pretty sought after because of the combination of performance and reliability.
