Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Inspect coils and no cracks' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check their impedance' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I just changed plugs and now cel comes on and at 5,000 rpm a blinking cel.

Just changed plugs(2002 C2) and noticed that some of the coils are cracked, but it runs fine.

I am getting the VF supercharger done and my shop asked me how many miles I had and after I told them the mileage they told me that the coils need to be changed when I do the install.

You can check their impedance, but even that doesn't give you certainly when they're under load.

MY car has almost 60,000 miles and it did have a slight miss but the shop could not pin it down, but when I changed plugs the miss came on with a vengence.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just changed plugs(2002 C2) and noticed that some of the coils are cracked, but it runs fine. Is there a concern other than wet weather??
Thanks, Roger B.
FWIW, I had a bad misfire after my last track day. Turns out it was several (not just one) of the coils that had gone bad. After replacing, everything is fine.

When I was doing my plugs at 60k I found 4 of my 6 cracked. They corresponded exactly with my misfire codes. New coil packs all around and I was all set.
S.
Hey can you test the coils or do you just replace them? I just changed plugs and now cel comes on and at 5,000 rpm a blinking cel. I inspected the coils and no cracks.
In my case I was able to see the misfires on multiple cyclinders and they corresponded with cracked packs. I'm not aware of an easy way to test them. You can check their impedance, but even that doesn't give you certainly when they're under load.
I am getting the VF supercharger done and my shop asked me how many miles I had and after I told them the mileage they told me that the coils need to be changed when I do the install. What it comes down to is that it is just a maintenance item on the cars now.
MY car has almost 60,000 miles and it did have a slight miss but the shop could not pin it down, but when I changed plugs the miss came on with a vengence. therefore I will order almost $400.00 dollars in coils!! Thanks for the input. Hal
My 2000 C2 has only about 32K miles on it. It runs great. The plugs are still the originals. Should I consider replacing them due to age? Or just keep them until it's running rough?
Scott, I wouldn't replace them unless you noticed a problem. In theory coils should last a lot longer than 30k, but their placement relative to exhaust manifold probably leads to early failure in the 996.
Just an update on the missfire, I had the car scanned again and number one cylinder showed a miss fire, the scanner guy said check and be sure the wires to the coils are attached correctly. I am relieved not ot need all coil packs and I will check the wire connection to coils and then replace the coil on number one.
does anyone know where i can find the connectors on wire harness side that plug into the coil pack? two of the 3 connectors on bank 1(? drivers side) are broken from whoever did last tune up and are safety wired on. dealership said these connectors are $150 a peace. that sounds wrong to me.
Ed, the coilpacks are about $60 a piece if I recall correctly.
944, I have no idea, but it sounds like you might be better off getting those at a salvage yard.
