Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use distilled water' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use distilled water' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

But the VF Engineering supercharger seems to have solved the problem with the use of (you guessed it) a K&N filter.

I'm a big proponent of using stock filters for filtration over flow, myself.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I've said it before but man what a piece of crap...... I finally got it off my car and went back to fab kn combo, with my aero wing and ducting the factory unit plus fab is unbeatable. Performance is very evident when underway...... I never should've left the cai in place for so long..... lazy i am... anyways, not sure on non aero cars but with the fixed wing and factory ducting this is for sure the way to go. I'm pretty sure it's pressurizing the air box to some small extent where as the cai was only making power on a dyno with no moving air....
I ranted before upon purchasing because it seemed so cheap and poorly executed and it is. It also scraped the edge of my belt..... junk junk junk. I am a fan of the panel filter though, I just think this product is a junior design thats all..... Cheers.
I bought it, sold it after seeing the tinny pile of crap they asked me to build and drill onto my car...that and the data from others that it wasnt worth its weight in the HP or any other performance area...
Good choice!
Ed
The factory panel paper element is more than enough airflow capability for a 296-320 hp motor.
Plus, compared to a K&N, it actually filters the air............
Great, are you telling me these things are so picky we need filtered air?...I bet next someone will say they also need filtered deionized water!... MAN!!
Sans forced induction, I thought air intakes were supposed to suck?
I'm a big proponent of using stock filters for filtration over flow, myself. In case anybody is interested, some dude wrote up an interesting air filtration test:

I've tried them all. The BMC F1 filter was the best bang for the buck. The EVOMS is nice too, more power, but a lot more sound over 6000 RPM. The K&N is a piece of junk, I threw mine away (shame on you Ed for reselling yours!).
