Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is a software file for your car's ecu. Gathering that you have an 02- 996 from your avatar, you would be able to flashload our software via our flashload cable. Here are the power gains for the 02' - 996 Stock: Max. Power - 235kW (320HP) @ 6800rpm Max. Torque - 370Nm (273lbf ft) @ 4250rpm Max. Speed - 285km/h Max. RPM - 7300rpm Acceleration 0-60mph - 5.0s FVD Level 1 Tuning (Software + BMC sport airfilter): Max. Power - 243kW (330HP) @ 7000rpm Max. Torque - 385Nm (284lbf ft) @ 4500rpm Max. Speed - 291km/h Max. RPM - 7500rpm Acceleration 0-60mph - 4.8s

POST 4Original post

Is it the same SW flashload through cable for '99 through '01 MY? Or do we need to send in our car ECU to FVD? Can you give us the similar power gain for MK1 models? Thanks...

POST 5Original post

I would definitely consider this if you could expand on what exactly this entails. More info please...

POST 6Original post

How about engines with X51 option (i.e., power package). For instance, my '04 996 has X51 package, rated at 345 hp, 273 ft-lbs torque.

Botsy67, Yes, you can use our flashload cable for the 99-01' 996's. Here are the power gains for the 3.4L cars. I wish that I could give you similar power gains to the 3.6 but that would be out of character for FVD. Stock: Max. Power - 221kW (300HP) @ 6800rpm Max. Torque - 350Nm (258lbf ft) @ 4600rpm Max. Speed - 280km/h Max. RPM - 7300rpm Acceleration 0-60mph - 5.2s FVD Level 1 Tuning (Software + BMC Sport Airfilter) Max. Power - 232kW (315HP) @ 7000rpm Max. Torque - 360Nm (266lbf ft) @ 5000rpm Max. Speed - 285km/h Max. RPM - 7500rpm Acceleration 0-60mph - 5.0s The beauty of our programs is that the Hp and torque curves are very similar to the factory so you have smooth driveability throughout the entire rev range. Our software files tend to keep pulling at the top end of the rpm range as they are developed with the autobahn in mind. Please check out the dyno sheets for your car.... http://shop.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/9...ronic-DME.html when you see your model click more info and the dyno sheet will pop up. The dyno sheets are in NM and PS but the numbers are easily converted.

Exlondoner, FVD-Brombachers flash load software is a user friendly Windows based software application that provides the ability to read out and load programmed software directly thru the vehicles OBD II port. Programming is a simple, computer guided experience and requires hardly any user input. FVD-Brombacher supplies the customer with a USB cable which interfaces directly with the vehicles diagnostic port and our companion flash load software program. Read-out of the vehicles ECU takes place with the click of a button thru the vehicle-encrypted cable, which automatically creates and sends a file to a secure server at FVD-Brombacher Headquarters in Germany. Our software programmers then extract the files data, tune the software, then modify the program to suit the customers individual needs. Customers are able to express individual tuning requirements in a text field at the end of original file read-out before the program is sent to Germany. Here, the customer can input performance upgrades already installed on the vehicle and our programmers can adapt software tuning to extract maximum performance gains out of existing vehicle modifications. Whether your vehicle is heavily modified or completely stock, FVD-Brombacher will custom tune our programming to suit individual requirements. While we are able to modify a program based on individual needs, FVD-Brombacher tunes Porsche ECUs with the following modifications in mind: -Increasing throttle response -Modifying Ignition Timing -Optimizing Air and fuel ratios -Removal of the top speed limiter -Increasing the rev limiter -Modification of boost mapping on turbo vehicles All of FVD-Brombachers programming is proprietary, developed in house by FVD, for FVD, our partners and you, our customers. After modifications are made to the software, the file is then sent back via email directly to the customer who can then load the program back into the vehicle. The read-out of the original software and loading of the new program takes only minutes and the entire flash load process from start to finish takes under an hour. Customers also have the ability to flash their ECU back to stock anytime using the same cable and software, as the customer is also sent their original, unmodified program file. FVD-Brombacher stands behind all of their products and offers a 14-day money back guarantee on software upgrades. FVD-Brombacher also offers free software program updates should the customer decide to step up their performance and choose one of our level kits. FVD-Brombacher level kits are companion parts designed to work seamlessly in concert with our tuning software to maximize your Porsches performance. Contact FVD-Brombacher for further information on our free program updates, our money back guarantee or any of our level kit options. Email me an I can send you screen shots with instructions for the installation. Thanks for your inquiry, Rhonda

67FJ45, Your car is very well tuned from the factory. With our software you may see between 5-8 Hp and 4-7lb ft. of torque...so cost to seat of your pants performance is very low. You will notice immediate throttle response but I would have to say, spend your hard earned money on something else more cost effective. 996 X51 cars we have put on the engine dyno in Germany seem to produce a fair amount of hp and torque with our headers. They complement the intake manifold, camshafts, stock cats and the muffler on your car. We have seen gains from between 13-18 hp and roughly the same amount of torque. Considering that the gains are in the mid range the headers would be a much better idea. Thanks for your inquiry, Rhonda

POST 10Original post

Rhonda thanks for the info. Has anyone tried this on a 1999 3.4? I am just curious if it is really worth the money on specifically a 3.4 I do like how FVD will custom program based on aftermkt parts changes to the cars....plenum, intake air exhaust etc...

Hi Rhonda, This sounds like a good deal and i am very interest for my 2004 996 C2. Can you tell me more about "optimizing air and fuel ratios"? From what i know about the closed loop system it uses a 2 step oxygen sensor (i.e. rich or lean, no in between) so how would your software change/alter this ratio? Thanks, George

Yoops Racing, We have programmed many 996 3.4L throughout the U.S. and Europe. In regards to being worth it, I leave it to your discretion. The only thing that I can say to help you is look at the engine dyno sheet. http://shop.fvd.de/shop/picture.php?...99610001_2.jpg The torque (NM in blue) has a nice gain from 4,500rpm's to around 6,500rpm's. The throttle response is also much quicker than the stock file. I do know where you are coming from though as I own a 987 S with a 3.2 L. I noticed the throttle response right away, I will say that the mid range and top end are quite a bit better but we are only talking about small gains on the whole. I like the idea of the program as it ties in all of the hardware that I have like you mentioned....then, for me it made sense. Thanks, Rhonda

George, Please understand that I am not a programmer but that from my understanding, the lamda sensors O2 sensors are constantly checking the gases in the exhaust. The changes in exhaust correlate to voltage changes in the lambda sensors. Those changes in voltage are then sent to the control unit. The control unit on a factory car would like to see a optimum value of one. An FVD tuned engine seeks another number, which is a trade secret. Basically our value gives the dme information that controls the fuel injectors, cam timing, ignition timing, the cam hub and the lift duration. Hope this info helped, but if you would like further information you can speak to our head programmer in Germany. He can clarify things for you. Just let me know and I can have him contact you or give you the number directly. Thanks, Rhonda
