Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

All the other stuff you can check your self so why pay the dealer a couple hours of work to check your fluids, light and check for leaks.

It's just on oil change so I can't see it costing that much.

being a new 996 owner, i've obviously never done it but, is it that hard to change the spark plugs?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I paid ~$400.
All that chintzy inspection garbage.
Oil change.
Spark plug replacement (not required, but did it anyways as I read you should switch up every 2 years as I didn't hit the mileage IIRC).
It's just on oil change so I can't see it costing that much.
Oh there is a air particle filter to change as well.
All the other stuff you can check your self so why pay the dealer a couple hours of work to check your fluids, light and check for leaks. It's not like the send there best mechanic to do it. They probably get the guy that washes the car at the end to do it.
being a new 996 owner, i've obviously never done it but, is it that hard to change the spark plugs? the 60k mile service includes new plugs (that's where the labor really comes in), so i'm not sure what the spark plug replacement entails.
Changing sparkplug is a real challenge, especially if you aren't very mechanically inclined. I would recommend you get the dealer to do the plugs. The rear most are the most difficult, barely enough room to get the coil packs off let alone pull the plugs out. if you're up for a challenge, give it a try but you'll need about 3 - 4 hours and buy the recomended Snap-on tools
I actually thought I was being proactive by swapping out the plugs, but I perused through the manual and I remember it stated every XX miles or 2 years or something like that. I was hitting against the timeline.
