In regards to engine failure due to the failure of the intermediate shaft, can the defective bolt/bearing be replaced before a failure occurs?

Considering purchasing a 2003 C4S. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in ATL for a PPI and future mx? Familiar with RMS and other issues associated with the car. Low mileage car. Will post pics if I purchase. Thanks and I hope to be involved with the board in the future.

I am in Marietta. Having done more research today, I have more questions. In regards to engine failure due to the failure of the intermediate shaft, can the defective bolt/bearing be replaced before a failure occurs? Also, I read that if the motor is based on the GT1 block, this is not an issue. 2003 C4S with 18k miles. Thanks.
