Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
It may be hard to get into a nice 993 for that money but a 87-89 3.2 Carrera is a blast and you can get one and still have plenty of change for mods!
Leading evidence: 'Replace mods' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace mods' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

O.K.
Need some advice, I know alot of members have been through multiple p-cars.
I have owned a Boxster - sold to get into the 996. Am now starting to snoop around for another Porsche. Going to keep the 996 as a daily but want to add something in the air cooled variety for fun, project and eventually garage queen.
Have roughly 30,000 to spend. Give me a majority on what to really start driving and exploring in the next few months.
Hit me up unless you have your heart really set on another Porsche, as I am selling my Mustang as noted in my sig and you are in the correct price range for it
Have you tried a 993? These cars are the classic Porsche, air cooled, good looks, not too much in the way of driving aids. They still have some level of comfort, but are a more raw driving experience. They also hold their value pretty well.

If you can find a 930 that would be fun as well, the 964 series are real bargains but since you have a 996 I'd go for the older 911 experience, the 964/993's are to refined
For what it's worth I have had my 86 911 for around 12 years and it's been one of the most reliable and solid cars I have ever owned.
i say buy the newest you can afford... around the 30K range.... you're looking at 99's and 00's.......i say add a little more and try for the 02's and above
My last 911 was a 79' SC coupe that was a pristene example with 21k miles miles on the clock, in 1994. Bought it for 21k and sold it 4 years later @ 18.5K with 38k miles. Never had an issue.Much lighter weight than our 996's and close to 200hp. A thrill to drive....that being said I prefer my 99' 996 water cooled version.
