Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Very cool! It would make door dings a thing of the past if widely adopted. There are practical considerations though. There needs to be space under the cabin for the door to fit. What is sacrificed to make that room? It wouldn't work for our cars, but regular sedans and SUV's it should. I assume this is an aftermarket product that would be VERY expensive.

POST 3Original post

That is cool. Some jackass parked his Ford Excursion about a foot away from my driver's door at the Best Buy. Luckily I have a cabriolet because I had to lower the top so I can crack the door open and slide in. I could've used the JATECH door.

POST 5Original post

Very nice on luxury cars. Well thought out by the inventor, I wonder at what price this would be?

POST 6Original post

That's really slick and a very practical ideal.

POST 7Original post

Is this safe for the occupants??? Sure it allows door-to-door parking between cars, great , but isn't there a sacrifice made to the safety of the door and the occupants. Other than that it's a cool idea.

Seems much safer than a regular door, what do you mean?

Structural supports within the door and airbags, are they still in place ??? Nothing in the video showed the actual modifications of the doors.

POST 10Original post

That's what I was thinking when I saw it. Structural rigidity I'm sure has been compromised somehow. Without seeing schematics, no one would know for sure.

POST 11Original post

Hmmm. How about those rainy or snowy days when you just crack that door open enough to squeeze out to keep the weather off your leather? Occasionally the best method for something can be the original.

POST 12Original post

Guys, it's a hoax. Where does that door go? :-)

POST 13Original post

Just hope that your battery is fully charged!!

It almost looks like it would be stronger than a regular door, but without crash tests it would be impossible to tell. I'm sure there would be a manual way to lower the door.

Under the car? -td

POST 17Original post

Disappearing doors...hmmm, reminds me of the seventies when General Motors station wagons had "clamshell" disappearing two-piece tailgates. Very heavy...complicated....another thing to break on the car. I'd like the manufacturers to work on lightening their cars, rather than making them heavier.

I agree but you know that cars like the Dodge Charger/Magnum will get something like this, it goes well with owners getting those 300lb wheels (each), have you seen the ones with lambo doors

Well there goes the trunk space and nice CO2 tank.
