Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

We used a common red and one color (except for black flame tips) to make repairs cheap and easy.
Leading evidence: 'Use common red and one color (except' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair sometimes trumps design' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Unfortunately on a racecar ease of repair sometimes trumps design.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Ray,
I just heard that my car is being put on a truck in CA today. Hopefully I'll be taking some pictures in the next week or so. That's the actual car in my avatar.
When I sold my 996 cup it was in the contract that the new owner had to paint over the flames. I got a lot of positive feed back on how they looked on the track so I'm pretty sure they will be reappearing on the 997.

Hey Jim...
Let me design the new scheme. I did the design for this team. (Full paint and graphics).

Love to make that rig shine!

Chad,
Maybe I should just paint the wheels black? You are sure welcome to take a shot at it although I got such a positive reaction to the flames it will be hard to not go that way again. They were unique and apparently looked great going down the track. The downside is that they didn't photograph well. Good work on the Bimmers.
Thanks to the rest of you guys. It should be a fun car. I can't wait to try out the sequential shifter!
Jim
Moot,
You should talk. How many cars have you owned in the last year?
Maybe we could start Team Flame. I think another friend of ours from the board is going to use them on a spec Boxster he's building.
The original mock-up for my 996 was done on a 997. The front looks too heavy but I think it will be alright in real life. It won't be as dark and obviously the splitter will not be painted like in the pic. The center flames on the hood will be shortened to make room for a number plate.

Jim - here is an alternate idea for your paint design. You could get this done on vinyl or a good painter with an air brush could transition/blend the colors.
That looks great. Unfortunately on a racecar ease of repair sometimes trumps design. We used a common red and one color (except for black flame tips) to make repairs cheap and easy. My sponsor (me) insists that I keep things simple.
wow jim, stunning. that sequential will be amazing. good idea with transferring the flames onto the new car. always loved it. will you add ABS or drive it without?
