Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

A few people suggested the Wurth's lubricant on the lower bushing and it seems to have fixed the problem for some people.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just picked up my 911 today, and I already have a funny creak in the steering column. It's most obvious when parking/ going slow. but I think it is creaking all the time and I just can't hear it over my awesome Fabspeed exhaust! Could it be low hydraulic fluid - or something more serious. My wife will KILL me if I already have a problem with my new car. HELP!

bring it back and ask the seller (unless it is a private party ofcourse) to chek it out.

Lower control arm bushings are more likely. $1000 each side to replace the lower wishbone at the dealer. $250 for the part I think if you want to do it yourself.

I went through this on picking up my car. A few people suggested the Wurth's lubricant on the lower bushing and it seems to have fixed the problem for some people. It didn't fix mine. P.S. I'm not following you .

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took the car out this morning and I did not have the creaking. So I'm guessing it is a temperature thing. Creaks when it's hot, quiet when it isn't. Is that another clue? Any other ideas?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4777783

So what did you end up doing to fix it? Or does it still make funny noises?

POST 8Original post

Blew the engine this weekend. Squeaky suspension has kinda taken a backseat .

Way to keep it in perspective!!

POST 11Original post

M: I have a similar creak in my steering column as well, they picked it up during ppi and said it is nothing with suspension but in the column inside the cabin. Perhaps bent something or other. Mine seems to do it when its cold, it didn't act up all summer. I did hear it once this fall, when car was initially started and backed out of drive. My solution, leave well enough alone.

POST 12Original post

See the following thread "Creaking in Suspension Finally Solved !!! " This only applies if your noise is coming from the drivers side suspension area which is most noticeably felt through the stearing column. For me it was the drivers side "Inner Tied Rod". Fixed by international Autos in Milwaukee. Nick

I read this post. Sounds like the exact same problem. Is this an important fix, or can I let it go for a while. (Still no question mark key!)

POST 14Original post

It's not major, more of an annoyance if anything. It get's worse over time though. Depends how bad little noises bother you. For me it was unbearable. I keep thinking how can I be driving a Porsche 911 that creaks everytime I drive it around a bump or crack in the pavement. Nick
