Of course my brother does not drive with any of his guns and would not know how turn on a CB so after some checking and his license comes up clean he asks the trooper "I hope you were able to get the contact info of the trucker who made a serious false report?" Well, I am sure you can guess the rest of the story..........

I've had a couple "run-ins" with 18-wheelers, where they seemingly try to block me off, or ride my ***, or drive right next to another truck for miles and miles and prevent me from passing them.

I find that truck drivers are more prone to using turn signals and mirrors that just about anyone on the road.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My brother was driving in OH this week and a three lane with the aid of many cones merged into one. My brother has room between two semis and once he is in the rear one speeds up to show off his bug collection and lays on the airhorns. Once some spacing was available my brother congratulated this driving feat with the bird. Half an hour later, he is surrounded by two OH state troopers ushering him off to the side of the highway and bull horn him out of the car onto his face?
The troopers say a trucker reported a Ford Taurus with a gun pointing driver that was broadcasting threats on a CB radio. Of course my brother does not drive with any of his guns and would not know how turn on a CB so after some checking and his license comes up clean he asks the trooper "I hope you were able to get the contact info of the trucker who made a serious false report?" Glad I was not there.

With all the "Free To Everyone But Us" Trade policies, we have a LOT more truckers on the road. In my industry, a lot of manufacturing operators and their supervision have resorted to trucking as a career vs. Wall mart Greeter, hamburger flipper, and the other "high tech and highly skilled" jobs that have been awarded to the the good old USA by the WTO. That being said, the quality and safety of the truckers on the road has been comprimised as have the products coming from the 3rd world countries they are moving, IMHO.
I've had several incidences with truckers. I feel some don't have the skill once seen in this industry.
I had a similar incidence where a Mail Man pulled right out in front of me causing me to leave the road surface. I pulled beside him and blew the horn. Well, he contacted the police in the next town and told them I forced HIM off the road. I got stopped and got a ticket that was later thrown out in court (he didn't show up!!).
I agree.
However, I don't mess with them. No finger, no horn, nothing stupid. I can't compete with a 60,000 rig and I'm not going to try. I think it's from those years of riding a motorcycle, always having to be defensive.
It's bad enough driving something as pretentious as a Porsche 911, we don't need to rub their noses in it.

With all due respect to everyone posting on this thread...... we are only getting one side of the story.
Being someone that has driven 8 series trucks cross country, they do not brake, handle or accellerate anything like an average car - and they are tough to see out of. Some people simply loose that perspective when weaving or manouvering in and out of traffic with their small street cars or even small pick up trucks.
I can kind of invision that this guy was at reduced speed and just maintaining his position in a selected gear. Possibly, the driver of the car made a sudden move to merge in but it disrupted the momentium of the trucker. Bringing all that weight down in speed and shifting can be frustating and maybe both tempers flared.
Please understand I am just trying to introduce another possible point of view. I have been there and I know how frustrating it can be.
No one is without fault and we are all fighting our own battles. Who knows what all might have been going on. I feel sorry that anything like this ever has to happen but at least no one was injured and everything worked out.
eric
meh.. truckers.. Most truckers here in SoCal don't have the decency (or the mental capacity) to merge properly without taking out a car or two. Seen it happen too many times and experienced it too many times. SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT, motha fu....!
Better to fall back, then pick your moment to zip by on the left. No fingers, horns, etc. I am guessing that in a battle between a blue collar trucker, and a 911 driver, the $60k per year trooper will side with the trucker unless there is a ton of evidence the other way!
Who needs the trouble!
Get down Arnee!! We should - although - be glad that our truckers are religated to the two far right lanes only. Many states let them drive where ever they wish and too often their choice is the fast lane at 50 MPH!
Did you get a different car?
eric
I don't know something struck me different about your ride. Maybe you did something different with your sig..... oh well. Your car looks great.
Speaking of sig,,, I notice you have a 750. Beartiful car. The other day I was out test driving Benz and stopped by the BMW dealer. I have been looking to upgrade my older 5 series and a lease return car caught my attention. It was a 2004 330I ZHP, I was so impressed I bought it on the spot! What a cool ride. For some reason I have forgotten about driving my 996 since then??? eric
I don't know what actually went down, but you would think that 2 things should have happened in this case:
1.) The police should have asked for contact information from the Trucker. Cops shouldn't go banging down doors just because some called them on the phone and told them something. They usually take down some important information.
2.) The trucker should not have reported a gun if there were no gun.
This is one of the reasons I installed my Sidewinder option on my car (1st pic). Push one of these babies and the mini-Sidewinder will take out the doulies on either side of the trailer.
I'm not even going to tell you the damage that the top switch in the 2nd pic can do. They had to sell the dismantled Titan Missiles to someone!
Hey, my brother is going to be a father in a few months and was driving a company car. There was plenty of room but the bored (I cannot blame him) trucker sped up, got too close, and B.S.d our law enforcement system. That is over the top! I had to call the police last week and the first thing they wanted to know was who I was. There was no "police abuse" here. Put yourself in their shoes for crying out loud=especially since they have to watch you enjoying your functioning artwork!
I am sure if he was driving this, it might have been a different story:
If I had a cabriolet, and two windstops, one would be stenciled just like an AR-15. Then when you need to, you can lower the top and rid yourself of tailgaters.
I called 911 on a guy last week for behaving extremely erratically on the Interstate--he came to a dead stop in front of the car that was ahead of me...in the fast lane, with traffic whizzing by us honking on the right. After one stopped vehicle attempted to go around him, he swerved in what appeared to be a "PIT"-type maneuver, which he tried several more times after accelerating to 90+ in his Cavalier.
I stayed behind him out of fear that he would try to do it to me. Unfortunately, I was in my company vehicle or I'd have whizzed right past him.
The 911 operator did indeed ask for my contact information and said that they'd get an officer rolling. As luck would have it, I (and the perp, most likely) had already seen a half-dozen officers headed to a van fire in the opposite direction on a nearby interchange. I didn't hear anything about it again.
OK, Let's go back to the start, again. The trucker thought he was rayyycing..or was on meth......and he did several (more than one) things wrong..........My brother did not "START" anything so we do not need to go down the obvious choice of physics lessons here. If there is a choice.............make the right one=very simple rule especially when travelling at 60 miles per hour with heavier company.
BE CAREFUL out there!
I've driven literally countless times across the country since I was a kid. I've been on every major insterstate in all but only a handful of states. One thing I notice is that Truckers are - for the most part - good, considerate drivers.
I've had a couple "run-ins" with 18-wheelers, where they seemingly try to block me off, or ride my ***, or drive right next to another truck for miles and miles and prevent me from passing them. This sort of thing happens sometimes, and when it does, I just lay back and/or get out the way and don't instigate anything further.
Most of the time, I find that they are just good drivers and know the rules of the road on the interstates. They usually move over to let me pass at the first opportunity. They flash their lights to let me know it's cool to move back in front of them after passing. When behind them on a curvy road that I can't see ahead of them, they'll turn on their left turn signal to let me know the road is clear and safe to pass (an act of faith, but I've trusted them and appreciate their help). They are generally good citizens on the road. They have to drive long distances and don't take kindly to people trying to squeeze between them or around them, or interfere with their jobs, so I just keep that in mind.
I bet there is a larger percentage of jerks and idiots driving regular cars than there are driving trucks. It's just that the ones driving the trucks wield a bigger stick, so just stay the hell out of the way.
Some people turn small incidents into big ones by retaliating in some way. If someone makes you angry, the best course of action isn't always to try and make them equally angry at you. That escalates things and that's when the worst in people comes out. My ex-girlfriend used to get so pissed at other drivers if they cut her off, that she'd always try and do the same thing to them, or give them the finger, and other such nonsense. This of course made the other driver try even more stupid stuff to get back at her, and so on and so on...
I find that truck drivers are more prone to using turn signals and mirrors that just about anyone on the road. But there is always the bad apple that can spoil the bunch as in this case.
I can't believe you still have that JPEG. I had forgotten all about that. LOL
I made the Porsche ad parody as a joke for my friends in NYC who were giving me a hard time about Virginia's gun laws. I told them that the national headquarters for the NRA is in Fairfax, VA and that we are all card carrying members. I also told them that even the Northern Virginia yuppies have gun racks and sent them the photo as proof.
Sorry. No hi-res version as it was just a thing I quickly put together as a joke. Here's another shot of the cab and rack:
Programmatore=NICE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!We love this thing! I saw the VA plate and thought it might have something to do with a major law enforcement agency? It is definitely a keeper. You should blow it up and sell on Ebay although there might be some copyright issues?
