This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Go to Renntech and look at the TSB's (if you are a member) and it will have all the information and part numbers, this involes replacing both the shafts on the top and the mechanisms in the car.

Suggestion

There is a retrofit kit to replace the whole mechanism with a modified mechanism that screws in and is supposed to eliminate squeaks as it torques down tighter.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The idiot I bought my '99 cab from stripped and broke the passenger side "clampy thing a jig" as my son calls it. Porsche calls it a catch. The stealer wants almost $300 for one. Anyone dropped their hard top and need to get rid of the catch assembly? ....... That's what I thought. Anyone know where to get one at a reasonable price or better yet a used one? Thanks,
