The sound of the GT3 and 'very metallic, sharp, and not' low and dark as when you replace the exhaust with fabspeed, after house or Supersprint.

The sound of the exhaust

Suggestion

Tracking the car go for a more open exhaust and most importantly get the fuel and ignition tuned so you wont be going too lean or rich changing the exhaust.

Suggestion

Going fancy and having an opened up exhaust can give you a dyno run with more top hp but where are you really going to want the torque is normally low and mid range just driving around.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello guys on you tube I've seen several movies of the discharge of 996 and 997 GT3 with original exhaust. I'm trying to get the usual sound on my 996 3.6 original. The sound of the GT3 and 'very metallic, sharp, and not' low and dark as when you replace the exhaust with fabspeed, after house or Supersprint. How can I do? Replace the 100 cells coon cat ee put the final of the 996 mk 2 can be done? Put this video link for you to understand the loud sound of the GT3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uer6k...eature=related

POST 5Original post

I dont know if anyone said so yet. But your link isnt working for me. Is anyone else having this trouble?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry try this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YySrCrAHVq0 a and this one too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vih6N...eature=related

POST 7Original post

Maybe it's the fact that the 997 is just sitting and being revved at a standstill (sound not very impressive), but for whatever it's worth the sound of the 996 in the other vid blows it away...

POST 8Original post

997 = not a stock exhaust (looks to me) I will find you a good exhaust BRB LINK pics on page one and two, sound clip on page 3 and 4 last vid on page 4 = the best because a couple stock exhaust go by AFTER and its like OMG !! BTW PJ just sold his car.....

Nice link Ivangene. I wonder how much it cost for PJ to do the whole mod. It seems a little loud though the police would cite him a ticket for loud pipes.

POST 10Original post

LOL -yea, his was LOUD!! and some folk said he shot fiberglass all over thier hoods.... but man does that sound "RIGHT!"

POST 11Original post

Call me crazy, but I think the M96/7 with PSE sounds better than the GT3s on the outside. On the inside, the GT3 is flat out louder which I prefer.

POST 12Original post

Ed, did you find out what the cost is for that exhaust?

POST 13Original post

no, but it was plenty I am sure... he just sold it and bought an RSR or is working on it.. I know he sold that GT3 (Monster!)

POST 14Original post

Schhhhha-wing.....I watched 6X...gave me goose bumpys

I thought FIAT " Fix it again Tony!" was a NY thing!! Funny stuff, until you have to tune one

POST 16Original post

No its a Fiat thing....had that car when I lived in Milwaukee. My mechanic was a little Italian midget named Ignasio....he had small hands. Not sayin' just sayin'. Drove that car underneath a semi truck trailer one time. True story.

your not crazy.... I completely agree with you!! the PSE is awesome... especially when you turn up the volume with some 200 cell cats... the GT3 sounds monotone... you'd expect it to sound better but it doesn't!! and it should... ??

POST 19Original post

Sounds great, but what does he do if the track has noise limits? I'm curious what the decibel level is...

POST 20Original post

The sound of exhaust? Vroom vroooom! Louder doesn't mean more powerful. Exhaust and especially headers with more back presure have more low end torque. That's smaller tube headers. It can come down to where you are really wanting the power. Going fancy and having an opened up exhaust can give you a dyno run with more top hp but where are you really going to want the torque is normally low and mid range just driving around. Tracking the car go for a more open exhaust and most importantly get the fuel and ignition tuned so you wont be going too lean or rich changing the exhaust. Your vavles and such can suffer not having things straightened out. Having a car dyno tuned is the best for power results and once again especially to keep away from lean or too rich. I believe in a little rich isn't too bad.

Your absolutely right PAC 996. I thought about this from expeirmenting with different exhausts systems in the past on my previous cars.
