Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

34 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just picked up my car from having it's annual service completed - $140. Not bad. I think it was my least expensive visit ever. What's the least and most anyone has spent on a single service visit?

POST 2Original post

Congratulations on the small bill....lovely jubbly. Both mine are linked...cheapest $236 for oil relief valve and 2 weeks later $12k for a new motor/clutch. Just picked it up yesterday from the dealer - loving the car all over again.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, today was beautiful weather and I missed driving the car. $12K for the engine is not a bill that most would want.

POST 4Original post

It was a shock at first but thought it through, used rennlist to gain some back ground information. The dealer was really helpful and I'm enjoying the car all over again. Breaking in is hard however....

POST 5Original post

Will tell you next week. Mine goes in on Tuesday for an oil change and check up. Paul

POST 6Original post

Oil and filter change? I think my least expensive was $208.and with an Indy for oil/filter and tranny oil change and a thorough inspection that revealed a bad front wheel bearing @ 37k miles.

POST 7Original post

Cheapest trip to the dealer: $8 for brake caliper bolts. Parts only, not a service though so don't know if it counts.

POST 8Original post

went to the dealer to get code for the Nav/Radio.... FREE!!!

POST 9Original post

Oil service (Mobil 1) and bleeding of F/R brakes - $189 including PCA discount from dealer. Cheapest visit was to have dealer check a fault code on either the stereo head unit (CDR-220) and OEM CD changer when I first got the car. They wound up replacing both units - cost $0. Bargain.

POST 10Original post

Shhh, they made a mistake the decimal is supposed to be one place to the right ! My stealer wanted $75.00 to plug the relay into the fuse block !

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 4757938

Phil, how much did the dealer charge you to turn off the "little green 3/4 circle" thingie on your speedometer, or was covered under the warranty?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4758678

Yup, and that's why we have this community to help us learn from one another and not pay their extortion. Think about it, I paid them $140 for them to change the oil and filter (which didn't need doing), then go looking for other work for them to do.. all in the guise of an annual service.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 4757612

Wow. I just got back from the Vet for my cat's annual service, and it was almost the same amount.

POST 14Original post

My first and only visit to the indy shop was $2250, for clutch, flywheel, RMS, intermediate shaft seal, and oil change. Five hours of that was labor (@ $130/hr). That was a bit painful, made worse by the fact that they had the car for 4 days...

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 4758695

$875, not covered under warrantee. The thread asked for the least expensive visit!!

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 4759613

Least expensive? Oh, my bad! The $875 charge probably broke out like this: Customer mentions "little green 3/4 circle" thingie illuminated on speedometer. Diagnose problem, push buttin on the end of the stalk............$25.00 Fine for failure to .............................................$850.00 Total charge.................................................................$ 875.00

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4759613

OMG! Your cost of ownership must come in at thousands of dollars per mile when you consider depreciation.

I think a thread based on most expensive visit would be more interesting.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 4762807

Ah. "and most". Totally missed it. Mine was probably having my X51 kit installed.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4762829

How much did it cost?

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 4762861

I won't even let myself know that answer.

POST 24Original post

$6.95 bag of expansion rivets. But that's for parts.. IIRC $165 for key and rerogramming.

POST 25Original post

Sounds like a good credit card ad Oil change at dealer: $350 Taking one up the A$$: Priceless!

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 4757932

POST 27Original post

Most expensive: $1400 for replacing cab electrical engine and mechanism. Least expensive: $500 for installing steel brake lines and swapping out some hard brake lines as well. They charge $150/h

POST 28Original post

Quotes source post: 4762829

Was that on a 3.4l?

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 4759613

That's about right for me. $140 gets me kicked in the *****.

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 4768954

So you you must be like the only one in the States w/an X-51 on a 3.4l. I checked into it extensively, but couldn't justify the cost. Big difference? Are you happy you did it?

POST 34Original post

Quotes source posts: 4770011, 4770011, 4770011

I don't think so, but I'll bet you could count us on one hand! (Not counting cars that were imported with factory X51's, of which I have heard of one.) Neither can I. Big difference? No. Happy? Yes. There are much better ways to spend your money, but I've never let that influence my decision making process. Partly the decision was based on being the only kid on the block with one. It performed pretty much as advertised, but took about double the work that was expected.
