Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2003 C2 cab. that is going out of warranty on 11/30. I only have 11K mi. on the clock. What are the common issues that I should have my car checked for before my warranty expires? I had my car in the shop this week and the tech discovered a slight leak in the RMS, which was replaced under warranty.
Is there anything else I should have my car checked for? Should I consider a extended warranty? I plan on keeping my car.
Many thanks!
Mike
11,000 miles.. that's just sad.
I can't think of anything that would "go bad" after 11,000 miles, although garage queen cars always have more leaks and issues than those that are actually driven as intended.
Maybe you could just go get a PPI and the inspector may be able to find something, but I'm sure it's fine.
LOL...You know it is sad.:-( I wish that I had more time to drive her, but unfortunately, most of my driving time is spent in the air. I was also thinking about taking it to a independent shop for a PPI.
Thanks!
You and Phil G. need to hook up! Phil has a 2004 C4S and it has only 2,800 miles on it. Maybe you guys could compare notes. Who knows, each of you might learn new reasons NOT to drive your cars!
This is not a warranty item, but have you replaced your brake fluid? If not, you should do so. Brake fluid has a tendency to absorb water, which can have a negative impact on the amount of pressure your brake system will maintain. Excess water will also damage the seals in the brake system. You should have your brake fluid changed, at the very least, every 2 years.
If you are in good with your dealer, take it in and ask him to give it a SERIOUS look-over before it goes out of warranty and DOCUMENT it.
If not in good? Go to an indy and get a thorough PPI.
+1 for Tim's advice. I just had my brake fluid changed. It had absorbed water - the tech said so - lol - but I felt better (and $178 lighter in the money clip) for having it swapped out for new brake fluid.
Thanks for the advice. I have changed/flushed my brake fluid every two years, as recommended. I have a great relationship with dealer and I trust him. I''ll ask him to do a once over and see what he says.
My extended warranty paid for a new engine. Make sure that your mechanic checks the Inter. Shaft bolt. They tend to shear for no apparent reason on the 2003. As for the extended warranty, get it from a reputable underwriter...90% of these warranties are underwritten by crocked baboons. Every time I ask for something to be looked at, I have to wait for an upraiser from the company. Check for leaks, check for leaks, check for leaks.
I just love it when some of y'all come and post all this anecdotal crap and either a) believe it; or b) enjoy f'in with people.
By the way, what's with the oversized pic of a bike???
You are a very unhappy man...let's settle this on the track! Oh, about the "bike", it is actually a motorcycle and I do not have a dog, so I posted a photo of my "motorcycle".
Check the coolant expansion tank. Look for leaks around the valve covers, spark plug tubes, anywhere else. Check to see that the ignition switch operates smoothly but not loosely. I suggest you drive at least 2000 miles before the 30th just to make sure.
I opted for an extended warranty and was happy I did. I have had good service from Warranty Direct
www.warrantydirect.com
They replaced my RMS and Coolant Tank just a month ago without a hassle.

Actually coldn't be happier as life is great, but thanks for asking.
Just curious, how young are you? My guess is early 20's judging by your post.
What exactly is it that we are "settling" on the track?
I am looking at Warranty Direct for as my extended warranty company too. As long as the vehicle is 2003 and is under 100K miles we should be able to get it. Which warranty package did you get that covered the RMS and coolant tank? I am assuming the "Major" service package covers it. Would you mind letting everyone know?
PS: I still have WD as my extended warranty company for the X5 and have had zero issues with them paying any claims but then I had the luxury care service with them which is 100% similar to bumper-bumper coverage.
Thanks.

I have the Luxury Coverage on my 2002.
warranty direct was my only choice as I am located in California. However they are currently offering new coverage in Cali until the California Insurance Board approves their program again. In CA 3rd party warranty companies must be endorsed by the State Ins. Board.
