Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i think there's a design change for 996 at some point, which allows the top to operate when moving, i am not sure.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 996 at some point' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 996 at some point' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A couple of us on the 997 forum are seeing if there is any interest in a group buy for a smart top.
If you are interested please reply to this note and i will add up how many we have interested and the discount that would give us.
cheers

Me too, in fact I just bought one for a close friend who bought a C4S cab as a "welcome to the family" present.
He was a long time Ferrari owner so it felt really good.
I apologize for my ignorance. I looked at the website. Do any of you guys actually operate your top WHILE you are driving? Having the hand brake on makes a lot of sense to me. Holding the button is a pain but not enough of an inconvenience to do anything about it. What is the big advantage to having this?
I am honestly asking for your insight(s), (i.e. not trying to be sly or sarcastic).
I have both RemoteTOP and SmartTop and I give both a resounding
I raise/lower the top while driving all the time e.g. as I'm pulling into/out of a parking space; while in slow traffic; at the stoplight etc. I can have my right hand free to hold the wheel, shift, pick my nose etc and it saves time. If it starts to rain/snow I don't have to pull over.
With RemoteTOP when leaving/returning to my car I can have the top close/open from a distance which saves time.
Hmmm. I can raise or lower the top while driving (I have tried it and it works and the manual says can be done if the speed is less than 50mph I think). How do I know I have this smart top/remote top? What am I missing here?
Thx.

With the C4S you can raise and lower the top while driving under 30mph from the factory. The smarttop lets me just hit the switch instead of holding it, and it lets me work the small rear windows.
u shouldn't operate the top when speed is more than 25 Mile/hour, no matter how "smart" your top is.

wait until other owner chips in.
997 is different, they only need 1 module, SmartTOP.
For 996 there are 2 independent modules. You can install either one independently of the other. RemoteTOP installs underneath the drivers seat. SmartTOP installs behind the rear seats. I bought both together as part of a rennlist group buy and saved some $.
