Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Several Porsche folks asked if the oil check showed high, which it did--stating that they had heard that late model 911's will do this if the oil level is high.
Leading evidence: 'mainly' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'mainly' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check showed high' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I ran the car all day on Saturday with no effects.

My mechanic test drove it weeks later and gave it a clean bill of health, and told me that a single tablespoon of oil could easily have created all that smoke.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

I think that if you let the car sit for a few minutes with the engine running before you turn if off after a spirited outing....it will most likely not smoke later...or smoke less.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was at our local clubs DE event this past weekend (Mid Ohio) & had a great weelkend learning the car and how it handles. I ran the car all day on Saturday with no effects. On Sunday, on the second run of the day, I started the car on run 2 and it started smoking (white) for a few minutes. It did stop after a minute or two. It has never done this before. Several Porsche folks asked if the oil check showed high, which it did--stating that they had heard that late model 911's will do this if the oil level is high. I had the oil changed a couple of weeks ago. Just wondered if anyone has experienced this. I drove the car home about 120 miles & it ran fine. The water temperature showed 190 degrees & the oli pressure showed between 4-5 bars. Thanks for anyone's feedback. Todd
Mine does it once and while at the track. After smoking for a few seconds after start up it is fine.
It does leave a nice smoke screen and I always get comments.
Same here.....I had my own spirted few minutes with the car...very high revs...and major corners...then shut it down for the night. In the A.M....smoke galore...I flipped out. Few minutes later...it cleared. Totally normal. I think that if you let the car sit for a few minutes with the engine running before you turn if off after a spirited outing....it will most likely not smoke later...or smoke less.

Same here- when I got my P-car earliere this year, my first drive was a relatively spirited drive up a steep and winding canyon. All of a sudden my rearview mirror was FILLED w/ white smoke and I pulled over and freaked out as the surrounding woods was covered in smoke. I thought for sure I'd bought a lemon and blown the motor.
My mechanic test drove it weeks later and gave it a clean bill of health, and told me that a single tablespoon of oil could easily have created all that smoke. I assumed it was full or overfilled from a recent 30k service and pounding hard up a very steep hill caused some to leak out somehow.
I haven't had it happen since.
I have to say that this has to be the most informative forum out there. Everyone tries to help other Porschefilies. Hopefully nothing is wrong with the car. My mechanic trucked the 911 C4S back to his shop tonight & will let me know. I will keep the audience in the loop. Thanks again. Todd
geez....i'm sure there's nothing wrong...but for the guy that had smoke billowing out of his car while driving? Not too sure that's ok..anyone else? our issue is mainly on startup
J
I get them mainly at startups, but, if you push the car hard especially after some hard and sharp turns, you can get some clouds of white smoke behind you while accelerating off.
However, the smoke should stop eventually, but do expect a smokey startup the next morning after that.
