Need to buy oil for a flush and fill on the final drive in my 02 996c2. I read that folks here use all kinds of stuff (redline,mobile1,swepco) but I want to stick to whats factory recommended. The mobile ptx product AND the shell transaxle on the factory list are not available anymore but the shell's part number pulls up a fuchs oil.. ] Anyone know if this is the right stuff to use? how much do I need? read that i need .8l or 1.3l in 2 seperate docs. Can this be purchased at some autostore? Im in NYC. thanks

my manual has capacities in it....does yours? maybe the difference is if you change the filter or not? don't know where to buy it - I use oil that is tough to find as well... Google or Bing works for me

When you say final drive, are you referring to the gearbox (transmission)? The dealer STOCKS the factory fill. Get it there. Why would you use anything else? The capacities are in your manual. Your gearbox takes just under 4 liters.

I have a tip, the final drive = rear differential. The dealer wont sell me 1 or 2 cans, he only has them in 20L containers...

Ah, that makes sense now since you have a tip. I tihnk it's just a tick under a liter (.9L) My local dealer will sell you by the liter if you bring a container. You can get Shell Transaxle by the liter though. PTX you can only get in 20L containers. Why don't you use Shell Transaxle?
