Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to replace the right front wheel bearing that got noisy after a track day. The quote from the dealer runs about $650 with an alignment and I am trying to decide weather to do it myself or cough up and have the dealer do it. I couldnt find anything on this type of replacement, I have searched and I couldnt find a thread that deals with it nor is there any manual available from Bentley or Haynes. The closest thread I could find was on a 964 and from that it seems like its not a pleasant exercise but also not undoable. I am currently doing a complete restoration/IROC inspired build on a '75s so I am not completely new to this type of work. Ok so here are some of my initial my initial questions: 1) Do i need a special tool for the bearing extraction and insertion 2) Is there someone who has done this before to give an opinion on how involved this is and can guide me through the process. 3) The torque specs for the different bolts. Thanks Gert
