Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for new wheels, mainly for DE, but if they look decent I'll keep them on. The requirements are: 1) Light weight. 2) Wider front tire, now 225, would like 245. 3) Not more than $2500.

POST 2Original post

go into the gt2/gt3 forum rite now...there's a guy selling VOLK TE37's for 1800$+shipping. lightest wheel i can think of and the price is pretty good.

POST 3Original post

Have you checked out Complete Custom Wheel at CCWheel.com? Chuck Jones just got some for his new '02 TT. They are nice and a few guys on the 997 GT3/GT2 Forum have been getting them.

POST 4Original post

#3 is gonna limit ya, but the ccwheel is the best choice.

POST 5Original post

CCWs! I am planning to get a set of CCW classics in 18s myself.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will these fit on a narrow body C2? Fronts are 18x8.5, 49mm offset. Rears are 18x11, 60mm offset.

POST 7Original post

I am pretty sure that they will fit. What wheel width & offsets do you currently have on the car? If you can give me that info, I can tell you how much the "proposed" wheels will vary from your current wheels.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I never checked before, assumed I had 8 on the front! Fronts are 18x7.5, 50mm offset. Rears are 18x10, 65mm offset.

POST 9Original post

CCW's are 100% custom wheels. The will fit - poifectly. C.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 4720705

Yes, but that is the easy answer. Why did you decide on those sizes? FYI......You'll need to run 235/245 rubber up front and 295/305/315 rubber in rear with that setup.

POST 11Original post

Yup, I think that new wheels will be my next mod... right now my short list is: Carrera IIIs, Sport Classic II, HRE 540s, HRE591s, HRE 547s, Work RPMs. Considering that I put new rubber on this year I'll probably tend towards selecting wheels that fit the existing tires.

OK, here is the info on the "proposed" wheels compared to your current wheels. Front - The 18 x 8.5 with 49mm offset will EXTEND an extra 14mm than your current wheel and have 12mm less clearance on the inside. The 14mm might sound like a lot but it should be OK. I have 18" x 8 with 50mm offset and your proposed wheels would EXTEND an extra 7mm on my car. I have about 13mm clearance on my current wheels so that would not be a problem. Rear - The 18 x 11 with 60mm offset will EXTEND an extra 18mm than your current wheel and have 8mm less clearance on the inside. This is right at the limit I would recommend for EXTENDING the wheels. If your car is not lowered, then you should not have a rubbing issue. Just to make certain that the wheels will fit, you can measure the available space, both front and rear, with your current wheel/tire set up as shown in the diagram below. Please excuse the poor drawing.

Why not 275 in the rear? 2900# car plus 260 HP at the wheels PLUS a car that pushes in the turns. Why not run 245F/275R? 400+ HP World Challenge 911's run 305.

not to mention the additional weight of the larger tires

I didn't choose as such, they are for sale now :-)

Thanks a bunch, now I'm confused on a much higher level. I guess I will have to decide on a new suspension first before deciding on wheels.
