Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I tried to figure this out a couple of times so that I wouldn't have to ask such a basic question but now I'm stumped. I purchased my 2000 - 996 several weeks ago. It did not have a front license plate bracket or holder. I have been front license "plateless" for these few weeks. I picked up a bracket over the past weekend but cannot seem to figure out how to attach it. The bumper has two holes for the bracket but they are huge. Is there a piece I am missing that goes into the hole(s). Embarrassed to even ask this. Thanks, Andy T

POST 2Original post

Yes, it's called an expanding nut (999.507.040.40). You'll need to buy two and make sure you're using the right size screws (900.143.151.02).

POST 3Original post

A little OT: I saw a thread a while back where someone had come across a front license plate bracket system that goes in where the tow hitch is at...anyone remember this and has a link for the item ????

That same subject has been driving me nuts for weeks--I only think about it when I'm driving the car. I'm very interested in getting one of these, too, but I've never been able to find it through Google, and I'm not sure if I've ever seen them mentioned here.

I figure, when I get to 1000 posts, I'll think about an avatar and a sig... I keep waiting for an inspiration, but none have come.
