Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'passenger seat belt' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'passenger seat belt' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check stuff out' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Not sure if you can on other readers, but otherwise, its very informative and I find myself sitting in the garage plugged in checking stuff out.

Only one I would recommend (for the money)...Durametric:

If you want more, including ability to reset the air bag light when your seats have been out of the car, I highly reccomend the durametric software.

You can buy an Actron on amazon for $60 or so, if all you need to do is read and reset codes.
This one works through your laptop computer to not only read/reset the codes, but also allows considerable flexablity in data-logging user-selectable parameters.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Somethings wrong. Had the PSM turn off and the ABS lights turn on yesterday. Things were fine the next time I started the car. Today, the solid yellow CEL comes on. Last time I took it in to get the codes, I suspect it cost me close to what the reader would set me back. Any recommendations on a code reader - cheap is good? Hope to only use the thing once in a blue moon.
I have the durametric as well and am very happy with it. Only complaint is that although you can read security and seat codes, you can't clear them. Not sure if you can on other readers, but otherwise, its very informative and I find myself sitting in the garage plugged in checking stuff out. If you are unaware, the software is loaded onto your laptop - I then wirelesly download info to my desktop server to look at later or print out/.
From the code/factory code, can I pretty much narrow down what, if anything, caused the light to come on with enough certainty to take it in to the shop for it?

The durametric software requires me to start my computer. The Actron is near instant.
I have been quite happy with the Actron off Amazon. But all I wanted was a standard OBDII reader, and that's what it is. It's easy to use: read and reset. And it's cheap. You can Google the codes or find them easily here at Rennlist or, I think, at Renntech.
It's the
CP9135
for about $73.
I purchased mine on-line from

and have been vary happy with its use. This one works through your laptop computer to not only read/reset the codes, but also allows considerable flexablity in data-logging user-selectable parameters. You have the option to purchase for one or multiple vehicle types.
Too bad there isn't a computer-based software that's available for modifications to the ECU. When I had my C5 Vette, there was a kit you could buy called LS1-Edit that allowed you to change the engine's software mapping, such as A/F ratio, idle speed, ignition timing, etc. When used with a wideband O2 sensor, you could really optimize the engine's power output with dyno tuning, and many were picking up 30-40 RWHP just by such tuning. Revo and GIAC reflashes work the same way but those are preset and do not allow for user customizations.
I just got my Durametric reader and the Airbag light is now off. The cause was the passenger seat belt. Glad to know it is not something too costly to fix. The Durametric was easy to use but not cheap.
What are the testing procedures for Durametrics. Must the car be running/at full operating temperature etc before plugging in the Durametric cable and getting proper readings?
1. start your confuser
2. Plug the usb side of the cable into your laptop
3. Plug the other side of the cable into the OBD port (lower left driver side)
4. turn key to ON position (do not start)
5. start the durametric software
6. RTFM.
