Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I wouldn't call the RSS Plenum snake oil but if you clean your throttle body and get the LWFW, then you essentially have both.
Leading evidence: 'Clean throttle body and get the lwfw' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean throttle body and get the lwfw' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Is there any downside to replacing the OEM plenum with the RSS plenum other than the standard mod hit to the bank account?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm still not sure how much is placebo and how much is real performance with the RSS Plenum; it's a pretty expensive piece of metal.
Well, the clutch is slipping a bit when floor it around 4k RPM or so. Will be installing a Sachs clutch kit.
Trying to decide on either:
A. Getting the AASCO lightweight flywheel; $750 through UltraRev.com
-or-
B. Getting RSS plenum for approx $750
Have already researched possible chatter issues with the LWFW which for me is a moot point. Going to do install of clutch myself (have done clutch/transmission installs on VW Jetta's and automatic trans to manual trans swap on a '90 300ZX Twin Trubo so not worried about the complexity).
Suggestions on the above? A or B? Need to know pretty quick as I would like to order the needed parts today or tomorrow so I can install the clutch next weekend...
I say B.... not only because it enhances the driveability without any negatives but also seems to have a higher overall performance effect than the LWFW. I have the Plenum on my car now and enjoy it. I myself do not like LWFW on daily drivers as they tend to make clutch modulation more difficult when in traffic... and the noise issue for the Porsche transmission is another issue I would prefer not to have.

You may find out that your flywheel is toast when you get in there. At least mine was at 84K. If that's the case, the car will make the decision for you.

If you have $1K that you prefer to wipe your *** with then send down to toilet then the plenum is for you. However, if you want a REAL WORLD mod (for the track) then LWFW is the way to go. If this is a street machine, spend your money your wife/girlfriend. You'll get much more satisfaction out of that purchase

OK, seriously; I've both and although the LWFW is a real performance mod, I'd not do it if your car is a daily driver. My car is basically a weekend toy (street & track). Sometimes I take her to work but then I realize that stop and go traffic got a pain with the LWFW. It's further noisy when accelerating which is fine when you drive for pure pleasure and not an issue with the top down (Cab) but annoying when you go bumper to bumper; rattle at idle is not a real issue, maybe because the ASSCO LWFW (only choice for C2/C4) is heavier than the Fidenza (GT3, tt).
On the other side, if you're in there and really like to improve the performance of your car, reduce weight and can live with the cons, then go for the LWFW. I'm still not sure how much is placebo and how much is real performance with the RSS Plenum; it's a pretty expensive piece of metal. The LWFW is the better bang for the buck; at least from my perspective.
I have the AASCO LWFW will a full race clutch/disc kit. I is leaps and bounds over a plenum mod. Yes, they are a bitter of a chatter box sitting at the stop light, but who cares? It's when you leave that ligth of hit third in a downshift that make the plenum a sour mod.
I took two Dallas area PCA instructors out in my car with the AASCO race clutch today and they were both blown away by the effect and performance. Blow off the plenum as you will likely need a flywheel anyway.
