My tip started acting funny after an indie without a ps2 tester changed my tranny fluid at the 60k service.

Also the porsche dealer did a computer check on it and there were no reported 'faults'.

The car has 55k miles on it and the transmission was serviced 4 months ago, it had a gasket leak and I decided to go on and change the fluid and filter at that time.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone
My transmission doesn't seem to want to upshift sometimes. It's most noticable after accelerating and forcing a downshift, then it will often stay in either 4th or 3rd and not shift back up. Any suggestions on what needs to be done?
Thanks
H
It is supposed to do that, it thinks you are "racing". It is trying to stay in the upper RPM's for acceleration. You will notice too if you whip the wheel back-and-forth. The yaw sensor will downshift and hold the lower gears longer for a certain period of time until it recognizes you are driving "normal" again.
nope it is doing it far more than normal. Sometimes when it down ****s to 3rd or 4th I can put in in cruise control (rpm 3000, or ever higher) and it will stay in the wrong gear for a lot longer than it should be. I eventually stop waiting an shift over to manual to get it back into fifth. This is a recent problem. last 3 days..... Before that no issues at all. When it does shift it is a clean shift.. thanks...
BTW a couple of other facts. The car has 55k miles on it and the transmission was serviced 4 months ago, it had a gasket leak and I decided to go on and change the fluid and filter at that time. It isn't leaking now. Also the porsche dealer did a computer check on it and there were no reported 'faults'.
A possibility is the fluid level is off, but I doubt it would cause those symptoms (know from personal experience). Fortunately, the electronics are under the valvebody of the tranny once the pan is off. If an electrical item needs repacing near there, it is easy to get to.
Check the fluid level is the thing that the dealer is recommending next. Hoping someone would recognize the sympton and say X needs to be replaced.. I'll take it in monday for the fluid check.
My tip started acting funny after an indie without a ps2 tester changed my tranny fluid at the 60k service. Although the shifting didn't seem as crisp afterwards I did nothing about it until about 4 months later when the shifting got really strange (suring rpms, clunky shifts). Long story short, my "second opinion" mechanic told me the shop that did my tranny oil change way underfilled the tranny...and it got cooked. I didn't have your symptoms, but these trannies are strange beasts. I agree checking the fluid level is the next step. Good luck.
