Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was surfing on my old car pics and found this one taken in 2004 on my way back from Germany. Car was already sold long time ago.
Engine was making 7100RPM.

I know this picture, its from Carlos 996 3.4L. It was taken on his way to Portugal and I actually played with him at time when I took my pic at 300Kph, he said I had remove the side mirrors in order to beat him

This is why 996s are such a bargain, IMHO. From 1998 to now, Porsche has yet to build a 'normal' 911 significantly faster than a lightly optioned narrow body 996. (I'm excepting the GT3s and TTs, here. I'm less sure of how much their performance improved from the 996 to the 997).
Still need to log in. Download the pic to your comp. and then upload it as an attachment.
Bingo, that's Crazy Carlos. Driving @180 mph one handed, while video taping w/the other.

Lighter, high reving - shorter stroke, no vario-cam plus "surge," and no foo-foo glove box
My 944 Turbo's glovebox has a duct going to it from the A/C system... I assume to keep your lunch cold as you travel.
I once remember getting stopped, and being surprised by the cold registration and insurance card!
I wouldn't complain if my 996 had a glove box...
As much as I want it to be true, I think the speedo is very optimistic at the higher speeds. Need GPS or a radar to back up a claim of 187MPH from 300hp.
Car wasnt obvioulsy making 187MPH. Maybe real 177Mph / 178 Mph. And it only reach that speed because I was in slight inclined road (excuse me for the bad explanation, English is not my mother linguage).

Every time I get into this particulat thread I get a WIndows pop-up window stating that in order to access
grupoapn.com
I need to log on. Anyone else getting this message? Just curious.
FWIW, my speedo error is 5 kph throughout my 'normal' operating speed range, according to GPS. It seems like error is constant, and not proportional to speed. Just tossing that in there...
If this was the case then my car was doing real 295Kph, and some how i find it hard to believe in that number. Anyway, I believe Porsche has in owners manual a graphic which relates the rpm with real speed. My car was sold so i dont have the owners manual with me, but anyone interested to know the real speed in 6gear at 7100rpm can see it in OM.

Well, since this thread now had a 2nd page, I don't get the the grupoapn.com message if I go directly to page 2 or to the newest post. But if I go back to page 1, the message still pops up. FYI.
That is amazing but I agree, speedo's don't really tell the truth.
Doesn't changing the wheel and tyre size change your speedo reading?
BTW...yep I get the annoying pop-up but click on cancel and it goes away and the picture still displays, no biggie IMHO as long as I have my anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-everything else running, which I do
Assuming a 285/30 tire (around 24.6 in. dia) at 7100 RPMs you were traveling at 179.7 mph. If you know the exact tire size I can plug it in for you. No matter what, that's bookin.
Jim
Cant remember the size of tires, but at time I had the 18" wheels that came from stock in those models, so I believe tire size was the same as any other 996.
