Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

as title. i got a set of 18" carrera III (5 spoke), taken of 997. my understanding is that i need 5mm space(nuts too) for the front, and nothing for the rear. please tell me if that's correct. and where to buy i know wheelenhancement has it http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=AccSpacers but don't want to wait too long, i want to pick up a set locally in NJ does dealer sell those?

POST 2Original post

PL - I believe the Carrera III in the 18" are 8" with 57mm offset and 10" with a 58mm offset. The dimensions should be stamped on either side of the valve stem, so please verify that my info is correct. I am not sure you "need" spacersin the front, but you may "want" them. The front wheels without spacers would RETRACT by 7mm compared to 8" wheels with 50mm offset. so you might want to consider 7mm spacers on the front. The rear wheels would EXTEND by 7mm compared to a 10" wheels with 65mm offset. The rear wheels will fit and have a little more agressive stance than your current wheels, without having any rubbing issues. If you can supply that info, I can tell you if you "need" spacers or not. Here is a link to the H&R web site. They have 7mm, 10mm & thicker spacers. http://www.livermoreperformance.com/...pacers.html#hr

a quick call to wheelenhancement, got 5mm spacer on order. should arrive just in time for the weekend. on the other hand, weather has been perfect for top-down driving, while my 996 has to stay in garage with one flat tire.
