Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so today I wanted to see if my fuel gauge light would come on. So I drove it around near a fuel station to see if I could get it to come on. Nope didn't come on and I was almost empty. I filled up 16.8 gallons while the tank only holds 16.9. It's an 99 coupe. Now the questions. When you turn the key to the on position does the fuel gauge light lights up? If so it's going to be the bulb burnt out. If not what to look for? What to test? On the side note I got about 240.6 miles on that tank driving hard but I think it's a little low. No CEL car running pretty good air filter is almost new. Any hints on both of those would be great.

POST 2Original post

No, the low fuel light does not illuminate when tiy turn the key to the Accessory position. Sorry, but I haven't a clue on what to check for next.

POST 3Original post

hmmm....when my fuel is low...it lights on the guage and On Board Computer beeps with a warning light there too. Do you have an OBC? J

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just the light but it doesn't come on.

POST 6Original post

A couple of thoughts: 1. Check fuses (B10 perhaps) 2. Instrument cluster malfunction 3. Calibrate fuel sensor:

POST 7Original post

seb928s -- I have an '01 966tt, and I noticed when I started the car today that the low fuel light came on when I turned the ignition switch with all the other warning lights (and then went off again, as I just filled up yesterday). Maybe it's just something simple as a burned out bulb?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it might be the bulb. Now how do I remove the cluster?
