The hardest part was trying to find a level surface to put the car on while I did it as I was using levels and all kinds of stuff to get it perfect.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

48 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, so I have been told this a few times on the forum but I did not want to change the look of my car as I thought it looked good. However, a couple of Rennlistr's that live locally to me, told me in person 'you must do this mod', so I did (no names mentioned OK Swede_Matt and Took ). So I installed 'painted' Bumperettes and now I see why I was being told to do so. Before: After: A big thank you goes out to Eric at Bumper Plugs for getting the painted ones to me very fast and in perfect condition. Now I am deciding again, yep again, whether or not to put the rear Black Carrera badge on the car, yes Black not another colour. Now with more Speed Yellow on the car, it is even faster

POST 2Original post

Steven, 100% difference, love the look. More like a genuine high dollar sports car (not that it isnt) but you know what I mean! Looks great. May I ask who did them and how much? Time to change the avatar!

POST 3Original post

If the painted bumperettes were a little more within my budget, I would get them just so I wouldn't have to keep treating the un-painted ones with protectant! I definitely think you should put the black Carrera badge on there! It would stand out and look really good. I think the car looks naked without it!

POST 4Original post

Forget the Bumperettes...I commend you for still having no badges on the back of the car!!!!! looks like my twin in yellow!

POST 5Original post

I think the painted bumperettes enhance the rear view and tie in nicely with the black Gurney lip.Great look!

POST 6Original post

There is a guy on ebay, his company is called exotic-toys, that offers painted bumperettes for a considerable value, you end up paying 115 bucks or so after you return yours and the core charge is credited. He also has great feedback, and I bought some wheels from him and they were perfect.

POST 7Original post

What a difference - they look great! I may have to consider this on my list for next year...

POST 9Original post

Wow, stunning on the car man. Thanks for posting up the pics! And yes, there is a 5hp gain per painted bumperettes when they come from BumperPlugs.com (rennlist lifetime member and rennlist sponsor, I might add). For those of you waiting, or contemplating, or lookin' for a possible deal, email me...you just never know what I might be willing to do. [email removed]

Duh! I'm glad you finally came to your senses! You *** looks much better.... er wait.... that didn't come out right... I mean your car's *** looks much better! Nice job!

POST 11Original post

Steve: Looks great....and I for one would go for the badging in black. Yellow and black is a great contrast and the colors compliment each other. Tim; We knew what you meant the first time, even tho you tried to cover up your inadvertant Freudian slip.

POST 12Original post

hehehe, thanks for giving me part of the credit for this. Love the new look Steven. Beautiful with the painted bumperettes. And yes, I still think a black Carrera logo would look great. I like the contrast between yellow and black on your car and the logo will pick that up nicely on the back part.

POST 14Original post

a very good mod that I can't afford right now. very nice!

POST 15Original post

Wait a minute, you photoshopped out the tires which matched the original bumperettes! Did you think we would not notice?

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Everyone, thanks for the great feedback much appreciated. Tim I am so glad you like my car's *** now Sorry AudiOn19s I am going to badge it with a Black Carrera badge. I wasn't going too before when I had the black bumperettes, but with the yellow bumperettes the badge will look brilliant.

POST 18Original post

Lookin good speed, the black carrera would def look killer... Im still stuck on the gt trim, im waiting to get it clear bra'd

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4658870

Thanks bud. Still stuck on the GT Trim thing, I say do it and get it over with, or sell them. With your colour car it's not going to be as noticeable.

POST 21Original post

I see you hooked up the avatar, now every time you post I can be reminded how much I need them!

POST 22Original post

the black bumperets looked MUCH BETTER....what did you do to your P??????? Ofcourse I am kidding.....!!! I did the same and even on my black P it added about 30HP the black carrera badge will look great as an accent color

POST 24Original post

Looks nice Steven. I like mine unpainted because it allows me to still bump into things without having to refinish and ties black into the tinted windows nicely at the bottom with silver all around...

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 4660834

Same here. I think the black bumperettes make a nice contrast.

POST 27Original post

Here is an out of the box idea. Since your ride is very cool and CUSTOM. How about a black "water-jet cut" carrera in the California script that is on your plate. Would tie everything together, and I like the script on Cali. plates - similar enough to porsche script so it wouldn't look off, but it would make some people take that extra little look. i.e. porsche nuts.

POST 28Original post

Steven, the car looks excellent!!! But then again it looked excellent before the bumperettes mod. BTW, I love the taco wing, it looks so sweet on speed yellow cars.

Yep on my list of mods...thanks Yep out of the box idea and thanks for sharing TY and of course the Speed Yellow is quicker than any other colour of the same car Thanks to all the others with feedback. I knew I would get some of you liking the black ones as I too was going back and forth on this idea because it brought the black into the car for contrast. But once I put the badge on it will tie it all back together, you'll see (although I still like the naked look, but I have too many people that do not know the body style is a Carrera, so I have to fix that issue with the badge).

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK I have put the BLACK CARRERA Badge on the car now. Love it or Hate it, it is staying there, well at least for time being

POST 34Original post

looks siq, bro. both r aesthetic upgrades. i'd work on the tip to make it look more integrated to the holes and then you're pretty much done.

POST 36Original post

Steven - the Carrera badge looks awesome on your SY! As with the bumperettes, I knew you would come around sooner or later. If you had listened to us sooner, you would already be on your next mod!

Thanks Ben. Yep the exhaust tips are next and like you said, I am done with the outside of the car. I know I need to go bigger, I mean wider with some ovals, do you agree? And since I am not a true fan of chrome, I was thnking S/S or going with a black finish ??? Thanks don't rush me on to my next mod, I am still trying to explain to the wife why I had to change the suspension, wheels and tyres on the car a few months back Thanks Thanks Chuck, it is the part of the car that most people will see disappear in front of them, so I had to tell them what it was that flew past them I thought you were serious for a minute then. Let me tell you that I have looked at it many times and measured every area on the badge many times, and it took me 2 hours to get it lined-up to my liking, but it is level and straight as it possible could be, trust me. The hardest part was trying to find a level surface to put the car on while I did it as I was using levels and all kinds of stuff to get it perfect. This was my 3rd attempt, yes I bought 3 badges before I got it right

POST 42Original post

gotta go out on a limb here... i like the older one more.....

Thanks that means a lot coming from you Misha. BTW love your kits just that I do not need one at this moment Really, that's OK. But I have gotten to like the new look as to me it is more modern looking and doesn't have these 2 black looking things sticking out anymore.

POST 44Original post

Way better and agree on the no badge, looks cleaner

POST 45 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4695054

I hear you, but my problem was that around my area I had too many people asking what my car was, I'm talking at lights, at the gas stations, etc. Some understood it is a Porsche but not the model. I live in a small city where I ahve only seen 2 other Porsche's, a yellow 993 and a red Boxster. So really the badge was put on for a couple of reasons: 1. Because I like it and it brings black in between the wicker bill and license plate frame, it looked like a void without it. If the wicker bill was painted to match the body of the car, like a lot of them are, especially from the factory, then probabaly would not have done the badge, but I left my wicker bill black to break-up the wing. 2. To tell the non-Porsche people what model my car is (hated it when they thought it was a Boxster because that's all they are familiar with).

It could have been worst! They could have asked " What year is your Toyota Supra? "

POST 47Original post

Like the badge a lot Steven. Great looking car. Some nice, big, oval, black exhaust tips and your work is done......maybe

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 4695615, 4696406

Tim, even living in an old farming area, even the Supra would be different for them, very rural, hell they are finally putting in paths (sidewalks) on some streets finally, I like it here, very laid back, mainly trucks, small cars and old cars around. I have seen 2 other Porsche's around here (SY 993 and a dark red Boxster), but there are some exotics sitting in garages including a Diablo that I see once or twice a year, but not much else exciting. But I agree, at least they knew my car was a Porsche, most of the time Thanks Matt...if weather is good I will be going to SR this Saturday, you? Need to find me those exhaust tips although I am going to talk to my cousin who owns the muffler shop and see if he can hook me up. Cheers mate.
