Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It also has a new engine and I drive it on random track days and the odd weekend run so I don't forget how to shift.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have been lurking a few weeks. I just got a 99 Coupe a few weeks ago and am full of questions which are mostly answered in the archives. I have owned 911s continuously for the last fifteen years and am a PCA instructor. My first Porsche was a black 87 Carrera which was a daily driver and autoX car. My second 911 is a fully prepped 76 3.0 which owns several Kp records here in Northern California. I was planning to race PRC Toyo Cup series with it until fatherhood threw a wrench in that plan. It also has a new engine and I drive it on random track days and the odd weekend run so I don't forget how to shift. I bought the car with a brand new engine and two year warranty which convinced me to compromise on the transmission. After three weeks and 1800 miles, I like the Tiptronic on the street even thought the shifts are mushy. Now my shyness ends and I have some controversial opinions about my new car. 1. it handles like a real Porsche even with the disposable engine 2. Tiptronic is very cool for a commuter car 3. my car is too loud and attracts the wrong kind of attention confirmed by Valentine1 Here are the details * 46k miles overall * 400 miles on a new engine, work done at Carlsen Porsche w/ 2 years warranty * 18" Carrera light alloy wheels * Tiptronic * Sport Seats * Sport Exhaust - (big oval cans) * Springs lowered (unknown) * Red calipers * Red seat belts for front and rear (hmmm) * Clear Armor Protective Film on bumper and door trim * Updated Clear side marker and rear light

Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting a 996! I am also glad to see that you have become a paying Member. Oh, and thanks for sharing the pics! Nice l@@king P-car! Damn, another "newbie" that I can't b!tch slap for not posting pics! That's two this week! I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms! Again, Welcome!

POST 3Original post

Congratulations on the beautiful car. Always good to see another instructor

POST 4Original post

Nice car. I really like seats/seat belts. You may want to add some more red to the interior to go with the belts. I did my gauge rings in red. Good luck with it.

POST 6Original post

+1 for stock exhaust! It's nearly silent on the highway, but makes pleasant sounds when you romp on it. For a daily driver, I think it's the way to go. I'm sure swapping your exhaust for some one's stock exhaust will be no problem...

POST 8Original post

I have 3.4 cans,,, Ill swap with ya Welcome to Rennlist!

POST 9Original post

Awesome and welcome from another 99 tip owner. I daily drive my car and agree that it is a great commuter. I have added the plenum and a k & n drop in filter, and I love the performance. Scott.

POST 11Original post

Welcome aboard!!! Fantastic sled. You plan on getting some "seat time" with that car at all? J

POST 12Original post

Looks great, welcome!! That car is definitely lowered - maybe just a tad too low but that's subjective.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will have to get a little seat time in it - I need to autoX to find when it loops cuz it doesn't the PSM safety net. I do drive it over a windy coastal range every day with back road options. My track car is only 2200 lbs and is a blast to toss around so most of my track time will be in the silver car.
