I removed the 4 10mm bolts and disconnected the end of the throttle cable on my '99 but I have no idea how to remove the throttle cable which is held onto the TB by some strange square plastic thingy.

With pliers I pushed in top and pushed up and in and at same time I used flat screwdriver to press in the bottom which worked in literally 2 seconds.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I removed the 4 10mm bolts and disconnected the end of the throttle cable on my '99 but I have no idea how to remove the throttle cable which is held onto the TB by some strange square plastic thingy. I have the part "mostly" off now so if any technical guru could shoot me a quick reply it is much appreciated. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Squeeze the flared ends of the plastic and push it out towards front of car.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks 1999 you ARE THE MAN!!! Going to do it now.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was not able to squeeze the throttle cable holder with my fingers or needle nose pliers. Any idea what I am doing wrong. FYI the holder was originally on a downward angle before I touched it. I did push in the top, but I cannot find a way to get at the bottom. Any Ideas?

POST 5Original post

Once the top is through, use a flat blade screwdriver and push the bottom through.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you 1999, I was trying to do it in one clasping motion but it definitely 2 consecutive steps done at same time. With pliers I pushed in top and pushed up and in and at same time I used flat screwdriver to press in the bottom which worked in literally 2 seconds. Thanks so much for your help!!!!!!
