Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1999 996 Fabspeed Carbon Fiber Competition Air Intake. Like new condition. I got it through a friend of mine and thought it would fit my 997 but it doesnt fit with my aftermarket decklid. I later discovered its actually only for 996, specifically the 1999 model year. It may fit other 996 but Im not totally sure. In very good condition. Comes with all hardware. Asking $550 https://www.vividracing.com/fabspeed...150766499.html

it looks cool, but Ill like to see what it does on a dyno once the car gets really hot, the kN system actually looses power, better of with a kN panel replacement. Seen all the data on the kN with air fuel ratio, intake air temperature, fuel trims, ignition timing, etc. The kN sounds good. But you loose power!!!

POST 6Original post

I have the k&n system already it works great sounds perfect but is ugly plastic I don’t track my car it’s a driver and in the short time I’ve owned it I have never experienced any power loss even in 100 degree days in NYC traffic my switch is purely cosmetic and opening my engine lid and see all that carbon fiber gives me a woody!!!

Exactly! No one wants to hear that you don't track your car or that you sit in traffic. What kind of establishment do you think this is? Geeez

POST 10Original post

Ok lend me your car since it’s bulletproof I just got mine and haven’t assessed it completely and living in NYC my car has to drive through traffic to get to a track if iit can’t I don’t go racing and since I’m the only one on this list who doesn’t race their newly acquired car I will ask you to lend me yours since you don’t care if it blows up you got deep pockets right??

POST 11Original post

I bought one of these used back when I had an n/a 996. They look cool and there is a nice intake noise change. I did back back dyno pulls with stock and this intake and the power fell off about 10 HP above 3500 RPM to redline. Honestly Id buy it again simply b/c it cleans the engine bay up so much.
