Plenty of power there for me, certainly can't use all the available power in the twisties or the mountains.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's everyone doing to get just a little more HP out of their 4S? I have a 2004 4S that I love, but am wondering if there's a little more juice that I can add to it. Appreciate any help or insight you may have!

POST 2Original post

Hi, just wondering the purpose for the extra HP, or what is the end goal? Racing? Street acceleration? Are you able to completely utilize the available power? There are many performance upgrade threads her on the forum, seems they are mostly oriented to enhanced airflow: aftermarket intake and exhaust. I think recently there is new debate if these many of these "higher HP" parts are really worth anything at all And if you want to go faster, then it seem many owners install upgraded suspensions -- also lots of threads about that. But save your $, the 4S already has a highly tuned suspension. My 4S is a Tiptronic, and if I want to go fast, I simply floor it in auto mode and it accelerates better than I could ever do with a stick. Plenty of power there for me, certainly can't use all the available power in the twisties or the mountains. If you are really serious, then get a rebuilt 4.0 engine -- there is no replacement for displacement. And then there is usually the easiest suggestion: "Want a faster car? Go to driving school".

Appreciate your response! No real purpose, just was curious what people's thoughts were and seeing what was out there. I'm debating lowering it a bit and tossing on some different wheels too, but my driveway may not approve that, ha. Love the look of the Fabspeed CF intake, but have heard mixed reviews and I have the Porsche Sport Exhaust already which sounds great.

POST 4Original post

Your C4S is nearly perfect as-is. A custom tune and some lighter wheels would be about it. A proper tune will improve your mid-range torque curve, not so much hp. A 997 airbox is nice for air flow and looks. If your suspension is in need of some love, improving on that will allow you to manage grip better to carry the speed youve already earned.

POST 5Original post

Without going down the path of forced induction, there isn't much you can do to get much additional power of a naturally aspirated Porsche engine. Porsche already wrung quite a bit of power out of these cars in factory form and there wasn't much left on the table to extract. 300 horsepower out of a naturally aspirated six cylinder was pretty impressive 20 years ago when these cars were new. All of the available bolt-on upgrades such as intakes, plenums, headers, or exhaust aren't going to gain more than a couple horsepower if you're lucky. All they're going to do is increase the sounds the engine makes and shift around the power curves a bit. The only sure fire way to make the car faster is to put it on a diet. Lightweight wheels and brake rotors (like Girodisc) will make a huge difference. Other easy items are switching to a lithium battery, and replacing the factory seats with something lightweight.

POST 6Original post

Most of the gain is minor BUT the sounds are glorious and make you FEEL like your driving a 918 best bang for the buck is an gundo exhaust hack cuts some weight and has great sound im waiting for my fabspeed carbon intake to be shipped let you know how it goes Mike

POST 8Original post

I've been wondering for a while if something like a Sprint Booster would help. Give the illusion of more power by virtue of a better throttle response....?

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 17553524

Made me curious to read about that again. Link below is a good description, a quote: "The benefit of a sprint booster is that you do not have to push the accelerator pedal as far to achieve the acceleration you desire. You are saving some foot effort." Seems like a little practice would achieve the same thing. Skepticism about aftermarket parts is our friend. https://outbackjoe.com/macho-diverti...s-it-worth-it/
