Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use line-out / preamps wires' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I got a new Bluetooth stereo from Crutchfield. Tried pretty hard to avoid one with a bazillion LEDs of various colours flashing - I think I've succeeded in getting something that 'goes' with the car interiors.
The instructions seem decent too.
Question: Do I have a factory installed Bose system or not? I know the head unit isn't bose (it's becker) but I thought perhaps the wiring/amp/speakers were Bose? Would appreciate some advice !
Specs:
1999 996 C2, USA
Stereo unit: Becker CDR-210
Visual:
I've got
2x speakers at the base of the front windshield
2x speakers on the door (1 each)
2x speaker in the walls on the rear 'seats'
1x Amplifier unit in the front trunk (just above the spare wheel)
Thanks
Sid
Sounds like you have the Hi-Fi System(a misnomer given the way the system sounds-I.E. weak). I have the same setup in my car. It could be worse though, the standard system on MY 99's is 4 speakers (no door speakers) which sound worse than my old wrangler with the top down.
As some one mentioned before Bose wasn't an option until 02 and it had a large sub box that fits in the rear tray behind the back seats.
I got the Pioneer DEH-P6100BT CD Receiver. It sounds really nice and the bluetooth audio quality (both music as well as telephone) is great.
But I'm thinking of returning it since the user interface is confusing (and I'm a technology early adopter!).
I've got pics, wiring diagrams etc, I plan on making this a DIY post, but want to hold off till I've picked the right stereo and have wrapped everything.
Cheers
Sid
PS: Regarding the original question, the MY99 996 (at least mine) doesn't have a Bose sound system in particular. - But we still need to follow the "bose sound system" instructions since we have the factory standard amp. Crutchfield's instructions assume all amplifiers = Bose sound system! So we will ignore the speaker out wires and instead use the the line-out / preamps wires from the stereo (i.e. we never use the stereo's internal amplifiers).
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
