This is not a probability of success.

When I was "in the business"....we used to check with the NATB...National Auto Theft Bureau....they work with the insurance companies for theft recoveries....unfortunately, the issue of liability keeps them from posting any info because it's so difficult to keep the database accurate and up to date.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone know if there is a registry for stolen vehicles that public can have access to ?
I have checked with state police, buy these guys don't have a clue .
Thanks
In Canada, when you enter a VIN lien search you can have an option to check against RCMP records if that vehicle is registered as stolen. Not sure if that helps for what you're trying to do, but thought I'd add my 2 cents

Think of it....they don't get a car taken off the registry, and someone sees it and chases it down or calls in the cops, or performs a citizens' arrest, and it turns out that the car has been recovered and returned to the rightful owner, but nobody updated the stolen status to recovered. This happens even with the law enforcement databases that are supposed to be updated ASAP when the vehicle is recovered, but there have been horror stories of Mr. Nice guy taking his family out to MacDonalds only to be pulled over and thrown on the hood of his car because it wasn't taken out of the stolen files.
You can go to the NATB website, but it's mostly informative information on how to minimize risk of theft and public interest subjects.
Reid: I'm retired ..doing very little these days and would love to meet up and let you have a drive in either or both of the cars. You can check out how the 996 drives with all the mods and decide if you think any of them are worth it.
Send me a PM and I'll give you my phone numbers....I live right off Laguna Blvd...and am looking for an X50 that grabs my fancy.
Look forward to hearing from you.
