I am told that to fit a Porsche genuine one I have to replace the roof.....

You dont have to cut anything, you replace the whole roof piece between the "ski rack" mounts.

So are you saying you DONT have a sunroof in your car at all...and you want to install one? If so DONT....you got a car with the sunroof delete option...lots of people like those because its more rigid and looks like the GT3....Since yours is a C4, it IS a GT3 tub.....if you REALLY want a sunroof, sell your car and get another one...you dont wanna go cutting your roof....
+1, yeah leave it alone, thats a special car... here in the states anyway... I thought you wanted a replacement sunroof and I happened to run in one earlier today.
Thanks guys that's what I suspected.
It is a brilliant car but regrettably it is for sale so I can keep a 95 993 C2 Cabrio with genuine 29000 miles on clock.
Most buyers here want a sunroof so I have been looking for options but I will just wait for the RIGHT buyer.

Yeah wait....there are some here, usually the track guys that want the stiffer chassis....put it for sale in your local Porsche club...they will appreciate more than the average Joe who just wants to look good and would like the sunroof as a convenience for the nice sunny days.....Good luck!
