If you want to rent a house just do an online search for using Manzanita.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know this is a bit off topic. But, since it seems you all enjoy nice cruises and figured some of you have cruised the Oregon Coast before, what is the best city on the Oregon Coast for a couple of nights with a family with 2 kids under 2?
Newport? Seaside? Florence? Just somewhere to hang out with the family for a few days. What resort hotels do you recommend?
I'd take Seaside, especially for the kids. This not the warmest time of year to go there, but there are lots of kid friendly entertainment.
I'd recommend renting a cottage than a hotel. Just Google it.
Seaside works well with kids. We are headed there in August for a week. The only down side is that the town is a little more run down than some on the coast.
Cannon Beach is better for older kids/adults. More of an "art gallery" town, but it has much nicer hotels.
Spent a week in Newport once, but it was too "urban". Florence is not really on the water - more of a river-front town.
I recommend Lincoln City. There is a nice resort just south of town, on a golf course. The town is right on the beach. Claims to have the most hotel rooms on the Oregon coast. Straight shot out from I-5, as well.
Basically, the entire coast is nice for cruising. However, I especially enjoyed Southern Oregon, just above the CA redwoods. Didn't like the Northern part too much, just too cold. On top of that, cities like Seaside and Cannon Beach are full of granolas trying to be artsy fartsy. Bring your Birkenstocks !
Below are some pics from one of my regular trips from Portland to Laguna Seca. Time permitting, I always took HWY 101 and HWY 1. Incredible scenery.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Those are great pix Yves and Rob. Rob - what did the 'good guys' clock you at?
I think I'm gonna be going to Seaside as it's closer and seems more kid friendly for under 2 - want to avoid too much driving with the kids in the car too (taking SUV - no Pcar this time).
Wow how timely- just got back this am from my best buddies wedding at Cannon Beach- so pretty there. Went up to seaside also and really like that area. I started talking to the wife already about a hwy 101 road trip in the 996.

Hey Rob, you were just in Manzanita! I'm there almost every weekend. Great town. Great shot of Neahkahnie Mountain you have. Can't beat the weather there this time of year. If you go through there again let me know - maybe we can meet up and have a beer.
Personally, I'd say stay in Cannon Beach. There is plenty of shops for kids and the tidal pools around Haystack Rock (you can't miss it) are great to go explore in. Make a day trip up to Seaside, it's only 5-6 miles north of Cannon Beach. Seaside is run down a bit, although they do have an outlet mall women seem to love. Cannon Beach will leave you with some good memories of a picturesque beach town, Seaside will leave you with memories of useless trinqet shops.
Manzanita (14 miles south of Cannon Beach) is an even smaller beach town that is fantastic. Not quite the picturesqueness of Cannon Beach, but A LOT less people. The Sunset Surf Motel is ocean front with a swimming pool and right next to town. Decent place to stay ([phone removed]). You can also rent a house (in Manzanita or Cannon Beach) which is fun also. Some activities: 9 hole golf course, rent boats to go crabbing on Nehalem Bay, lots of beach activities, hiking, Oswald State Park (4 miles north of Manzanita) is where you'll find lots of surfers (looks like a SoCal beach on a nice day). There's a surf rental shop in Manzanita for boards and what not. If you want to rent a house just do an online search for using Manzanita. Blue Ribbon has a quite a few houses and does an online tour. The house on Treasure Cove Lane with the hottub is across the street from mine. Very short walk to beach and town. Goes for $125/night I believe.
As I was telling Rob, I'm in Manzanita almost every weekend. If you decide to come down let me know and maybe we can get together.
