I passed my drivers test at the Santa Teresa (South San Jose) test station and the test was literally a drive around the block and a U-turn.

so yeah i was drving around going to the beach yesterday when i spotted a white rs4... i pulled up next to it and was just admiring how amazing it looked. the light turned green and we set off normaly but after a little i heard the magnificant v8 take in air and start to growl (loud really really loud)... i gun it once the front of his car is a little in front of mine but not to the floor and i don't red line and some how i pull ahead and keep pulling.. once i get to third gear i let off and coast cause there was another light... the guy rolls his window down and his wife say "you got us" i was so suprised cause i thought for sure i had no chance against one... i keep under estimating this car and it keeps suprising me.. i really thought for sure that it would be a waste to even try to keep up thats why i didn't go all out but damn i had no clue he wouldn't be able to keep up. my car is at 114K miles and i have cardboard boxes set up in my garage to chatch all the oil and yet here it goes and takes out a 420hp v8 monster
well anyway guy seemed like a nice guy and i told him his car was beatiful..
A 4000 pound sedan vs a 3000 pound sports car with about the same HP-weight ratio. Wow, you really showed him!!
-td -> took a mini-van down on the way to work
I get your point..... From an engineering standpoint some cars are beatable, but we naturally have our preconceived notions on the potential of some cars. I had a lightning at the light with some engine work (friends truck, and I had him by a nose for the longest time until he backed off.... I was surprised along with everyone else, except you td?
Aren't you the same dude that is
bragging
about going 170+ on a public road? Now you are bragging about street racing. Hmm, how long have you had the p-car?

Yup, he is. Obviously he doesn't yet understand the definition of reckless.... probably never will until he kills someone.
...oh and that's a car I'd rush out to buy based on the way we've seen it driven!
Oh come on don't rain on his parade, he is selling a car that is known to go that fast and now has proven it, who would not want to buy it now...oh that's right, someone that isn't aware of it being done. Well we shouldn't tell anyone then should we
It's not a thread that says the car for sale, but a thread that he is selling parts:
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=54027
Here is the first post and I have highlighted the area of interest:
I bought some techart springs off ebay a while back and they have just been sitting in my room because i haven't had time to put them on.
Im now selling the car (gets me into trouble )
so i have no need for them. Ill take pics and post them later but here is a Link to a description. right now im open to offers so anything reasonable. They have 3000km on them so they are slightly used.
damn you people are harsh one quick sprint to 60 on a wide open road and u guys act like i killed someone... i bet most of you have tried your cars out against another on the street or do all of you drive like nvm.... damn you people need to chill the **** out and stop acting like you know me... yeah i go around all night looking for people to race and i weave in between traffic and cut off old ladies cause i have nothing else to do
(and if you can't tell thats sarcasm then your to old)... I bet you old ****ers are the type to sit in the outside lane driving slow showing off your tiptronic porsche acting like a god damn badass picking up school girls... i don't think im king of the road i don't think im invinciable i don't think "Hey look at me" and do something stupid... I do however like to enjoy my car and if that includes a short sprint to 60 to feel how it accelerates so then be it.... O and what with that " Obviously he doesn't yet understand the definition of reckless.... probably never will until he kills someone" dude you don't know me and i bet you do somethings that would be considered "reckless" so yeah i hope you kill someone too ***
This one statement reveals how immature and irresponsible you are. No mature person with an ounce of humanity would wish this on another.
How many times did you flunk out of kindergarten?
I wish you well in selling your car. It's obvious that you're not responsible enough to be a Porsche owner.
You have proven to us that you have no concerns for anyone else on the road, your 60 mph here and your 'video' of you doing 174 at night.
If you are going to post your 'achievements' then you better be able to face the responses. If your achievement is stupid enough we will tell you. If you cannot handle the truth then 'don't post them'.
I am sure everyone on this forum has done some crazy shyte with the car, believe you me I have with my Mustang, but to be honest we know better than to post them as they are not achievements that we need to share with everyone. Now if we are on the track and we are driving a C2 and we blew away a TT or GT3 for some unknown reason, then by all means share that achievement.
We are all cool here, but posts such as these are not going to achieve anything but what you got in response. There is a lot of track people on here since the Porsche is a out-of-the box race car, so that is where we expect drivers such as you do drive how you want, and even then you will find out it's not the same.
We want you to enjoy the car, but the 'track' is the place to enjoy it not the streets. And if you do it on the streets, we do not want to hear about it. I bet you would not post if you did kill someone, would you now? But hey if you passed the other car up at 150 and that was your achievement and then killed a person, then maybe you would post it.
Yeah that last statement is not good ... not good at all, unnecessary
Also, we all have a reckless side that sometimes comes out on the road, we just are concerned that the exuberance of youth will take it too far in your case. I always am working to keep that side of me in check, which I usually do, but sometimes I slip and carve through traffic..... the left lane hogs and sleeping drivers can be too much to take in stride. Even then, I am careful to have a stretch of empty road in front of me where I can break free. It is the weavers in heavy traffic that are a real danger, I will never let them egg me on. When I was your age I had 100 hp. That was enough. I can't imagine the consequences if I had over 300. Hell, I even worry about that now. 100 comes up with hardly any effort. (not that I do that everyday.... ok maybe once a day... sometimes twice.... just kidding, insurance company troller whoever you are...)
^ +1 Nicely said guys.
I'll never take a race on a road, that plain and simply gets people killed. Everybody and their dog in a souped up Subaru wants to race - good luck to them. There's something reassuring about knowing that you don't have to race and that you would kick their asses if you did. It's called No Contest and you get to win every time.
Responsible driving is about not doing the things listed above. It's all about being aware of your surroundings and being ready for the unexpected. An experienced and responsible driver knows that bad things happen when they're least expected. As dresler noted it's moronically easy for us to put our foot down and be doing triple digit speeds - that takes no skill whatsoever. Doing it in a responsible manner in the right environment takes maturity and skill.
It's clear from reading your posts that you're proud of your exploits. Bragging about the size of your appendage doesn't work when everyone in the room is equally well endowed and doesn't give a rat's *** about what you're bragging about.
The problem is that we care very strongly when you're being irresponsible with other people's lives. Really, honestly, I couldn't care less about what you do with your life - not one bit - as I've sad before, you've not been around long enough to have made a contribution to society and right now you're racking up negative credits. That being said, I do care when you put the lives of others at risk.
It's funny, my wife has commented on several occasions that she loves everything about my Porsche except the way that it makes drivers around us behave.
It's almost like the car attracts 5 year olds wanting to race. I've had every kind of american and japanese car want to go for it - including a laughable demonstration from an F-150 pickup truck that was doing his best to provoke a race. He eventually got bored and wandered off when I ignored him.
If you cannot withstand the temptation and be restrained, then a Porsche is probably not the right car for you.
While I don't support street racing, I think his description of what occurred barely cualifies (cue is broken....forever) as a "drag" style race. Sounds like they put the hammer down a bit, but not an all out 1/4 mile reckless blast. I'm not defending him, but if everyone here says they've never tried to keep ahead of another car in the next lane, or hasn't had a spirited launch while next to a "rival", I simply don't believe it. There is no claim of spinning tires and redlining....just a simple short lived sprint.
Many of you sound like you always want the person next to you to drive ahead of you from a stopped situation, so as to not participate in any shenanigans. I simply don't buy it. Whether you are 18 or 98, a fast launch doesn't always have to be unsafe. A fast jaunt to 60 barely sounds like a reckless act if there is clear road ahead. Again, I do not favor street racing, and I do think it's absolutely risky and dangerous, but that's not what was described. And wishing another here that he kills someone is just plain idiotic....even if said in jest. A sure sign of thoughtless imaturity.
And I would think that an RS4 would chew a 911 up on sprint. Guess the driver stinks in the Audi? No flaming intended here, and I know this kid was an idiot going top end. I don't support that one bit, but he was ripped a fresh arsehole in that thread.
Best,
J
These are all totally true. I have never seen people act the way they do when I drive my car. Just as you perfectly put it Wellardmac, it is just ludicrous the degree of instigation that goes on in my cars favor. I mean everything from civics to jettas to vettes and ferraris. Its just ridiculous. And honestly I know I can blow the doors of most of those cars, but I bite my lip so to speak and smile while they do there little taunts, and heres the kicker..... It makes more of a point to not race then to kick their ***....because in the end we both know!
Can we just ask the Moderator to ban him? The kid is obviously looking for attention and does not care if it is positive or negative. We are just feeding it....
the comment about killing someone was only made by me cause i just wnated to point out how dumb of a comment that is. the person that said that to me has no right to say something like that and him being "older and more mature" should have know better. I didn't mean that comment and i said it only cause that guy pissed me off. and why does everyone still assume that i think im god and can do what i want... you guys don't know me. i go to a school where everyone has mustangs transams evos sti's and other "fast" cars and everytime i leave school i have dumb idiots in there cars trying to race me peeling out at the light going into opposite lane traffic just to pass me so they can say "hey i kicked the porsche kids *** in a race with my mustang" i don't street race yeah ok i did the top speed run and that was pretty stupid but i had things under control as best as i could and won't be doing it again. And speeddemon when i said they car gets me in trouble i was talking about how it gets me to much attention and i can't go anywhere without some idiot almost killing himself trying to show off in front of me... that and i get followed by cops everywhere just cause they know "a 17 year old is driving the porsche". and i understand why u guys are upset about my "street race" but im not going to apologize for it cause i don't see that i should. listen i didn't mean to offened anyone and i guess i should have expected to get negative comments... and again stop stereotyping me cause you don't know me....
Mark Twain once wrote
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."
You've already said enough. I suggest keeping your mouth shut.
Well all I can say is you own a Porsche, you have nothing to prove to anyone else, especially others of your age and what they are driving. Let them do there thing and brag about it, by not doing anything and not letting it worry you what they say, says a lot more about you. Remember you said it right they are dumb idiots, so don't be one of them! How may other Porsche's are there at the school? I bet not many if any.
Your car is designed for the track. Go track racing with it, you will get more car enthuasists wanting to know you that way. Then you can ask the ones with Mustangs etc. to race you on the track, I bet 99.9% of them won't and that is because they couldn't and there car would not be competitive anymore.
If this is all about showing-off to the girls then again, being a race car driver and doing it on the track in a controlled environment will get you rewards in that area too and better, they want there man to be alive at the end of the day not a statistic that is a national problem (teens and driving).
So the attention that you get, well get use to it. Be smarter and the attention you want will come to you.
And quit telling us we don't know you, of course we don't, but it is not difficult to place you in a category based upon your posts.
From today's San Francisco Chronicle, need I say more?
(07-24) 08:55 PDT SAN JOSE -- Four people died in San Jose Monday night when a teen driver lost control of his sports car, struck two pedestrians and then ran into two trees, police said today.
All four died at the scene of the crash on Graystone Lane.
Authorities said pedestrians Inder Paul Batra, 65, and his wife, Uma Batra, 57, were either walking or standing on the dirt shoulder of the road in Almaden Valley when they were struck at about 8:20 p.m. Driver Erik James Satterstrom, 19, and passenger Maxwell James Harding, 18, both of San Jose, also were killed, police said.
"Witnesses said they were going 80 mph," said California Highway Patrol officer Tod Thibodeau. "It's a two-lane road, with double yellow lines -- the speed limit is 35 mph."
Thibodeau said Satterstrom was driving his 2003 Nissan 350Z westbound on the road when he lost control of the vehicle and veered into eastbound traffic and then back into the westbound lane. The car continued to veer out of control onto the right shoulder, where it hit the Batras. The vehicle then struck two trees, Thibodeau said.
"I don't know if he was an inexperienced driver, but it looks like a fast car with an inexperienced driver," Thibodeau said.
A nearby resident, Wes Chan, said Monday night that he heard what he described as a "very loud crash" as he was preparing to have dinner. He rushed over to see if he could help.
"The driver's side was really smashed in -- the front wheel was 20 yards in one direction, and the fender was 20 yards in another direction," he said.
Chan said there is a sharp bend in the road near where the crash occurred.
Thibodeau said the cause of the accident is under investigation. There was an "overwhelming smell of gasoline that would have masked the smell of alcohol," if the driver had been drinking, he added.
You bunch of old finger waggers. I raced my brother down the autobahn Berlin to Prague at speeds of 270 km/h. No problems and safe. Best of all it was legal, well the German bit was
Speed limits are so arbitary in nature. I think sometimes they make me more dangerous as I have to look down at the clock all the time. Just because it says 40 it does not mean that if you go over 40 it is not safe. Give this guy a break. I do the same if I get some beast of a car next to me at the lights and I am 36.
But we are not talking about the autobahn and this person is not 36, so your attempt to justify this persons dis-regard for safety of others around him and in the car while driving on the streets, fails.
The post just above yours about the 2 pedestrians killed and the 2 teenagers in the car that killed them, were also was killed, is the reality of teenagers and powerful cars today in America.
I am not old, I am wise and mature enough to know what is right and what is wrong. Racing on the streets is wrong !!! Going over the posted speed limit, well everyone does this, it's how you do it and when you do it that matters.
+1
traffic laws are intrepreted and obeyed differently here in the US. for example; left lane hogging as opposed for passing only in Europe.
Plus this is a thread about drag racing on local roads and not the autobahn.
I agree on both points, 1st the driver in question is far less experience at: A. Driving B. High Speed Driving C. Controlling vehicle if a collision occurred. And he is not in an unrestricted speed country in any facet. I do also agree though that we have done it before, and this is NOT the first post of this nature, simply the first post by a juvenile, which probably brings out fatherly instincts in many...... You can tell by his rant that he is unexperienced in life, and we do not know him, but know what it would have been like if we were driving then what he is driving now......
Last night in NYC....
(CBS) STATEN ISLAND A 17-year-old girl is dead after the car she was riding in collided with another vehicle on a Staten Island road in what police are calling a drag race gone wrong.
Police tell CBS 2 News that Michelle Arout of Annadale was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.
Police say she was in a car on Veterans Road that was drag racing with another car at about 9 p.m. Monday in the Charleston section of Staten Island.
Six other teen-agers in the two cars are in local hospitals with various injuries.
Police brought in a tow truck to remove the mangled pieces of a Honda Accord after what they believe was a drag racing accident killed the 17-year-old.
The Mustang slammed into a fence, and the Accord split in two, ejecting Arout into the woods. The male driver remains in critical condition.
Police tell CBS 2 News that one of the cars had a nitrous oxide tank used to boost horsepower hidden in the trunk.
Fire Department HazMat crews had to be called in to stabilize the volatile gas and wash down the numerous fluids that leaked onto the road.
Arout was a student at Tottenville High School.
What can I say apart from we were all young once. I did idiotic things and still do when it is safe. There are also million of people who survive speeding every day. It is easy picking out the misery from the news.
Just had a look. Not so bad but then again I go and drive on the autobahn so it is pretty normal for me to go to these speeds. First thing I did when I got my car was do exactly what he did.
Sorry guys, but you are a bunch of old farts. On the highway this is fine. Speeding in town is dumb.
WTF...no it is not fine. Again you cannot justify this persons disregard for safety when you live in another country, I feel like I said this before
So when you move to the states and live in suburbia, see if you have the same attitude about driving fast as you do now, I think not. You will though have stories to tell about the times you were able to drive really fast and it was legal, not necessarily safe, but legal. Here in the states it is neither safe or legal.
BTW...think of us how you want, but we are going to live a lot longer than the OP if they keep driving the way they do.
Exactly
1) I have serious doubts that your normal driving is at 170+ MPH.
2) I'm not old, but I have more sense than to drive 174 MPH on a public road where OTHER DRIVERS are not expecting those types of speeds. I can only assume that other drivers on the bahn note when headlights are running up on them - and EXPECT them to be in triple digits. It's not like that here in the States. If you're going 70 on the highway, you don't think someone is coming at over twice your speed.
3) No one is faulting this kid for endangering his own life, but for the lives of others. If you think that it's ok to do so, well maybe you should come to america for a little test drive at night with him (no seatbelts allowed).

Yeah, I know that road well, I used to live not too far away. Pretty sad and not a road for speeding.
Lots of good things said here and the consensus is clear. The behavior we've seen bragged about is indefensible. Those outside the country that do defending it have a lack of understanding of US driver training (lack of) and US roads.
Oscypek we really don't care if you have no regard for your own life, but people like you kill innocent people every day that makes me sad. You can choose to take your own life, that's fine, but it's not your choice to take the lives of others through reckless behavior.
As someone else said, you're 17 years old and have a Porsche, that's pretty cool. You should have nothing to prove and should not care what others think of you. Sadly, it's clear that you do care and are immature enough to think that you have something to prove. That's just sad, but is the reality of being 17.
My recommendation is that you sell the car and then buy another one in 10 years when you've gained the skill and maturity to handle it better.
We are on the same page as a lot of others are on this thread, and we all live here in the states. The ony people that think it is OK is the OP and someone from outside the U.S.
I am originally from England and I can tell you that the driving here is totally different than back home. For an example of what I see happening here often, and this is only one of many:
you have a 4 lane motorway (4 lanes in each direction that is), I can watch people come on to them and go straight across all lanes until they are in the far left lane, they do this all the time with no concerns about who is in the lanes as they cross, and if there is anyone, they force them to slow down which in turn slows everyone down.
This is just one example of what happens here. I am not saying it doesn't happen elsewhere, but it happens more often here than anywhere I have been, and when family visits they hate being on the roads.
So think of going 174mph down this motorway in the far left lane at night, with no seatbelts and having a person pull all the way in front of you, even though the other lanes are clear, and when they get in front of you there are only going 65mph...the result will not be pretty.
+1
yup, driver training and discipline here stinks.
People have no clue how to use lanes and park themselves in the left or middle lanes, even on open roads - absolutely crazy. I'm sure that I get strange looks when I insist on overtaking and pulling back into the rightmost open lane, rather than parking myself in the left lane and blocking the road.
I really wish that licensing and testing were stricter. I passed my drivers test at the Santa Teresa (South San Jose) test station and the test was literally a drive around the block and a U-turn. Any moron can pass that test.. and we wonder why people drive so badly.
Hey now watch how you use the term Speed Demon, I might take offense to it ... JK
Yes you can be a Speed Demon and not an idiot.
I have owned the domain name TheSpeedDemon dot com for years now, and it all deals with my love for speed, watching it and doing it. But when I do speed, at a rate that is not suppose to be done on public roads, it is done on tracks or controlled environments (i.e. Silver State).
... wow... im out im tired of this you guys are driving me crazy and to tell you the truth its starting to get a bit funny... peace out ... and chill out...
