Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The owners manual is kind of sparse - but I was wondering what the alarm covers - does it sense a car being jacked up, glass breakage etc. How sensative is the motion sensor? Are there any recommended threads or FAQs that would cover this information? Thanks! Steve

POST 2Original post

Could try arming the alarm with the windows cracked or open and stick a hand in to see how the IR is working. The car as far as I remember is doors and other latched mechanisms like front and back lids with the center console switch too. I think the ignition is alarmed too if the signal of unlock isn't received. I do recall if a convertible top is open it wont do the IR sensor. I think its the same if the sunroof is open but uncertain. When locking if you get the odd blinking on the dash possibly a double flash then the alarm isn't arming fully. You can look in the service manual too for info.

POST 3Original post

not sure about being jacked up but the motion sensors would cover the glass breaking, they are pretty sensitive and yes motion sensors are armed when sun roof open, have tested this several times....not by plan of any kind mind you.
