Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The thing I really don't understand is that I installed an aftermarket head unit 1 year ago & left it so my horn beeped when I set my alarm.

Now, after this light flashing incident, my horn no longer beeps when setting the alarm.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I have a MY 01 C4. Today while walking to my car for lunch I notice my hazard lights flashing, but alarm is not sounding. I open the car and lights stop flashing. Car had been sitting about 2 hours and I doubt anyone had tampered with it. The thing I really don't understand is that I installed an aftermarket head unit 1 year ago & left it so my horn beeped when I set my alarm. Now, after this light flashing incident, my horn no longer beeps when setting the alarm. Greatly appreciate any ideas.....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks but not the alarm horn as my alarm went off again 5 minutes after parking & locking for lunch. No one was even close to the car and alarm just went off (horn beeping & lights flashing) for no reason. What would cause the alarm to start tripping?

POST 4Original post

Did something inside the car set off the motion detectors, a moth or even a fly? Or maybe an elephant? Well, I guess you would have noticed the elephant, huh?

POST 5Original post

could be a bad door latch, or interior monitering sensor. reallty need a pst2 or piwis to know

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To test your theory Tim I took the elephant, moths & assorted flies out of the car & locked it via key in door (so it wouldn't activate interior sensor) and 15 minutes later the alarm went off while car was in my garage. I guess this is a dealer fix.
