I actually bought a set of used H&R coilovers and had an appointment to install them tomorrow.

Chuck I know, but you never know when another set falls off the back of a truck again

I paid $1400 plus shipping for a used set from a Rennlister and thought that was an outstanding deal.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey found this while browsing craigslist.

It could be worth checking out and would be a good deal if it is legitimate. (I'm not affiliated with the lister)
****...It pays to be local...
I arranged for him to ship them to me around 6ish...I was waiting for him to send me pictures of the box so that I could confirm part#
O well, great find...I hope your communication goes smooth
True that! I wonder how much he bought it for... I talked the guy down to $700 before I guess Reborn drove to East Oakland with cash at 7am.
Reborn wanted it more than I did- I don't think I would have driven there even if it's free. E Oaktown scares me.
Well, it was a bit scary for the neighborhood but I needed them ASAP. I actually bought a set of used H&R coilovers and had an appointment to install them tomorrow. When I saw these posted I called immediately since the PSS9's are what I originally wanted. Now I just have to sell the H&R's I have and call it a day. Should have some pics this weekend.
Dimnslow... did you really have to tell me you bargained him down to $700!!!
Well, it was still a good deal for me.
David
Yeah, thought about that but not sure how to verify. He works at Dublin VW and was willing to meet me there..plus I have his home address and phone number so if they were "warm" it would be easy for him to get caught. The transaction went well and I made it out alive from Oaktown (although next time I will take my truck!).
David
He said he bought them from somebody for his honda civic. He tried to install them but the application was obviously wrong. He ran the part # and it was for a Porsche...
Good find. Like I said, I closed the deal with him pending a picture of the part# since I thought that he might not even know and then he sold them on me...
It was hard for me to trust him anyways not being able to speak english. But he finally emailed me back and said they were sold...
O well...Too good to be true
Well, the meeting spot was my choice since I had to do it on the way in to work and did not want to wait for him to get to VW. As for hot, that is speculation with no way to verify that I know of... He did show me the Honda he bought them for - no Porsche. The box was pretty beat up but the shocks looked good... besides, I have been known to go to outragous lengths to get things... like Crenshaw Blvd in LA to pick up the Porsche itself!!! After that fun filled event a little drive to Oakland was nothing...
LOL
... All's well that ends well. David
Yep, they were new in the box. I paid the asking price of $1000 but someone here was kind enough to tell me the bargained them down over the phone a couple of hundred bucks so I guess I overpaid!
The H&R coilovers listed above are actually mine. They are what was replaced by the PSS9 kit. I daily drive my Porsche and wanted the option to go really soft on the settings which the PSS9's allow.
David
Wow great price...I will have to keep my eyes and ears open for another set at that price.
PSS9's is what I will be installing next year (this years funds gone to the new wheels and tyres).
I know it's an auction and all, but what's the buy it now price on your coil overs? Also....for the noobs (like me) what are the pros and cons of PSS9 versus the coilovers you are selling. I understand the PSS9 are adjustable, and presumably the H&R are not, but I don't think I'd be adjusting them much anyway. Are the H&R towards the soft. middle, or hard end of the PSS9 range?
thx
Speed Demon: I seriously doubt you're going to see another set of new PSS9's for $1K anytime soon. That was the deal of the century. I paid $1400 plus shipping for a used set from a Rennlister and thought that was an outstanding deal.
Well, the main reason for me to switch was the damping adjustment for the ride quality that the PSS9's offer. The H&R are adjustable for height but not damping. Since my car is mostly a daily driver with some nasty commute roads I wanted to make it extra soft. The H&R's are still a good ride but on rough roads you can feel it (probably equal to middle range on PSS9's). I think the H&R's can even go lower in height than the PSS9's but I did not want to ride that low.
As for the auction, I have it set with a $800 reserve so I think someone will still get a good deal out of it.
